UPDATE - Pictures Below!

As a means to protect my recent "investment" of an SR20 swap, I purchased a Defi Control Unit II and a boost gauge. (with other gauges to be acquired soon). I just got done installing the gauge and control unit and I gotta say, install is a breeze. I might even say it's so simple a Caveman could do it, but the Geico Cavemen might find me!:ugh:

Right now, I have the control unit sitting in the plastic DIN-sized tray under the stereo. I drilled a hole in the back of the tray to pass all the wires for the sensors/gauges through. I like this place for the unit, it's out of the way and looks neat.

In general, I am super-impressed with Defi's quality and ease of installation. The gauges are well worth the money, and packed with features. For anyone out there who has spent a lot on an engine/turbo/all of the above, don't buy cheap gauges, buy Defi FTW!

edit - I'll post some pictures up soon, this weekend the latest.

I agree. I had some autometer gauges and they are very unstable compared to the Defi. I am totally sold on Defi and regret ever purchasing anything else. I am sure everyone allready knew this though.

Well, here are a few pictures of my installation. Basic pictures right now, since I'm at work. If there's response, I'll post more detailed pictures this weekend.

Anyway, first is the control unit sitting in the din tray, the coil of wires above it run to my boost gauge which is mounted in ultra-ghetto-fab fashion. I electrical-taped it into the little corner above the hazard/defrost button. Trust me, this is extremely temporary, I'm waiting on a 3-gauge panel from a seller on ebay, it should be here early next week.

Next is where I tee'd the vacuum line for the input signal to the boost gauge sensor. The vac hose on the right is from the fpr, the vac hose going toward the rear of the engine bay is the signal to the boost sensor, and the third hose goes down and hooks up to one of the small vac ports on the manifold. This is the recommended setup from defi.

And here is where I mounted the boost gauge sensor, you can see it in the upper left of the picture - it has a vacuum line connected with a white zip-tie and a wire coming out of it. The wire goes through a grommet in the firewall way down low behind the brake lines and connects to the control unit. I know it's a bit tough to see, sorry.

I love the fact that the control unit allows you to record all sensor data for later playback, as well as peak values. The quality is easily seen in these units.

Cheers for now,

Charlie
