bounce the limiter repeatedly while you drift. it's actually good for the engine. plus it gives you extra street cred and will cause the girls to give you street drifting road head.
non-flame translation: nothing except fuel mileage and long, long term reliability. don't ask such dumbass questions.

your not going to blow anything up at 5k, no need to get so worried. i drive my ka within an inch of its life whenever i can. if something happens, take your time to learn how to fix what you broke rather than save money for shopwork.

if you dont want to break ur car. drifting probably isnt for you. Im not putting you down, Im just stating the fact. If you dont have anything besides your current car to run...you might not want to drift until you have money saved up to quickly repair the car if anything happens. or purchase a daily driver. But hitting 5K isnt going to blow your engine next week. assuming its a healthy engine...just take care of it, do general maintenance ontime or before needed. change fluids and filters regularly and the car should last quite a while.

5k is nothing. I personally think you need to redline that bitch once in a while to show it whos boss.

I would love to be able to do that right now. I'm definitely gonna plan some serious track time once I get another motor ready. Should be a blasty-blast.
Original poster, like already said, you should be fine. I would just do oil changes about every 2000 miles since you are pushing the motor, the oil viscosity breaks down faster than usual. So to get more out of it, replace it before regular intervals, and also check your level frequently to be sure your not low on oil. I've seen that claim quite a few engines simply because the oil light is just too late.....

lol 2000 mile oil changes on KA.
mobil 1 says it will last 7500, do that. KA gets treated like a bitch since the shit costs 50cents to replace.

my sohc blew a ring after redlining it a couple times :keke:
so on this one (another sohc) i'm actually hesitant. 220k+ on the odo isn't very reassuring. lol

Ah....once again we go around McRussell...... :)
I suggested 2000 for ABUSIVE driving. Which translates to racing, high revving, spirited driving. Mobil wouldn't be a bad idea, you pay more, and you could always try to exploit their warranty.....
http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_Clean_7500_Warranty.aspx
But most likely you won't get squat after they inspect the oil at time of death.... :(
Either way you're looking to spend more money, more oil changes with standard oil, or use mobil with less oil changes.....
Or you could just keep the engine inside a safe revving area....problem solved.

Everyone here rules. This entire thread is the reason I get up in the morning.
I run my S14 KA above six regularly (several times a night on the way back from school Monday-Thursday). I don't redline it often on the street because frankly it all but stops doing anything but making noise and vibration above like 6200... but on the track you can bet I'm using everything it has to avoid going up a gear through certain corners.
I also do 8k mile oil changes with like two track events in those 8k miles. My KA has 139k miles, consumes no oil, and runs beautifully 99.995% of the time. The .005% of the time it doesn't run beautifully is my fault.
thats wat i hate its a simple question jus answer it with a simple answer. dont "flame" or w.e teh person. no need to apologize to these jerks jeenyus
