View Full Version : Another affordable FR on it's way?!
Check out the Dodge Demon, a competitor to the Solstice/Sky set to be unveiled at the Geneva show.
Dodge claims that they may make a version with the 300hp SRT-4 Caliber motor also.

I like it as is, but a coupe version would be even better.
Why stop the madness? WTF is that supposed to mean?
If affordable high horsepower FR's are madness, then have me committed.

I agree, it's cool that people are making more RWDs, but the design is going WAYYYYY in the wrong direction. They need to hire the designers that made cars from 1992-1998.
All this wannabe futuristic BS makes me sick.

i think it looks totally bad ass. I would rock one in 10 years when they are cheap enough to be drift cars.
You guys just need to face the fact that our 240s are going to be what "old" cars look like. In case you all didn't notice, all new cars are starting to become really crazy looking.

As soon as I saw it, the headlights look like they were pulled right off of the new EVO X
why are all these companies making roadsters :ghey:

1992-1998 was the biggest time of wannabe futuristic bs.
late 90's Intrepid anyone?
Design is finally going in the right direction in my opinion.
Moving away from that stupid overthick beltline and crushed DLO, and getting back to decent proportions.
The pic I posted is way nicer than the on road pic.
The Demon appears to have a bulbous nose to meet European pedestrian safety requirements.
As for the TVR posted, yes it looks awesome, and yes it is super ugly. Nothing on that car is resolved, and most details are just horrible, but it still manages to look purposeful. It's obvious that TVR has never had someone with a design degree do their cars in the history of the company.
A trend I've noticed is that average car enthusiests never like a new design when it first comes out, but it eventually grows on them.
The Demon is so much better looking than the GM Kappa platforms, but I'll have to say the Kabura still is my favorite.

Reminds me of a charger grill, and the headlights need to be reworked to flow better with the soft body and soft lines on the car.
Other than that, looks GOLD. I'd rock a roadster anyday.

I used to rock an Intrepid! They suck.
The FR setup is nice, but it's a Dodge . . . for anybody who hasn't ever owned one, don't.
Some cars come out good, though, and they don't have to grow on you. Some are cool but they have to grow on you, and then some are just ugly. Like an Intrepid.

NewAge = sporty, fun, gas-saving.

god that thing is ugly: imitation coutach wheel openings, imitation C2 corvette cove on the sides, cheap looking rear fenders, constipated looking back end, unsalvageable front end, awkward front fenders, beltline is too high, making the wheels look tiny, and the name is stupid. only thing going for it are the specs. It looks like a throw-away design from the bad days of alfa romeo design with a dodge grill tacked on. Anyone else tired of seeing that stupid 'crosshairs' grill slathered on everything?

All these roadsters are a cool idea, but in the end the s2000 takes the cake. I have driven the solstice, skye, miata, and boxster, but me and my dad just checked out an s2000 for his retirement gift to himself, it was the most fun and well setup car i have ever been in. The car carves the road up, and everything from the seats to the climate control are setup perfect to rip the car around
the dodge looks ok, not anything i would want tho

A 2nd look at the Dodge Demon. Making its appearance at the Geneva show, the Demon is almost production ready. We all know the specs but Road and Track finally hinted at the price... 5k less than a base miata or solstice.. 15,000.00!!!!! :bigok: Although its not faster than a S2000 or Sky, you cant argue with that kinda price! And knowing dodge it will have nice after market support. I think we all need to take a second look...

as long as i can rock a decent after market front bumper, and possible good after market rear over fenders, that car would be sound.

^ ditto. it's got potential for sure. the rear just reminds me of how dogs rear ends look when they scratch their ass on carpets.
If I were in the market for a roadster though, I'd still go for a 1st gen miata :2f2f: Nothing like 2,300 lbs of top down fun in the canyons :D

GM's interior's and fit and finish have gotten better by leaps and bounds over the last year. Sit in a new Aura once. Some have said it's probably GM's best interior ever.
The Sky though (pre Aura) has terrible interior IMO. I'd buy one with out hesitation. Bu the position of the window switches is nearly unforgivable.

why are all these companies making roadsters :ghey:
I don't get it either...it's like you can get a fixed roof FWD or a convertible RWD...where's the happy medium???
I just started to like some new cars (the original 350z design not the new slightly restyled look with the gay hood, evo VIII, 02-03 WRX, first body style STI) and then everything starts to look like ass again...WTF
A RWD with a nice fastback/hatchback would be great...long hood and lightweight. Nothing special inside, just a clean interior with decent gauge setup/controls. How hard is that?

not for $15,000. crossfire is based on previous generation mercedes slk. no way they could make money at that price if it used slk mechanicals.
