Does anyone know where i can find some pictures of the new Sport Max wheels? I heard that one of the new styles comes in black with a red lip, and nice offset. Possibly in a mesh style... not sure though...

Anyone know anything....

black w/ red lip? i havent heard of those

but these are new, still lame becuase of sportmax, but new. iirc they are knock offs of those ssr longchamps or whatever. they are called "501" and i think they are geared more toward the ae86/miata/scion guys.

booo to knock-off longchamps...especially ugly ones like those!! The don't have the sunken look and just look too complicated. I'll stick with the originals :bigok:

Why did they have to put that ridge on the spokes? They look terrible and Longchamps dont have them.

02-13-2007, 08:45 AM
they arent copies of longchamp xr4's thats for sure... but i have seen this exact wheel before, minus the 4x100 holes... so it is a copy.

Those SSR Reverse Mesh replicas are so nice, do they seriously only come in 4x100? That's sad, let's pressure Axis into making them in 4x114.3, I'd love to have a set in 17x9, that's the biggest size they come in, I think.

Bushido, do you have any more pictures of the car in your signature? It's hot.

Sportmax's are ugly, if those axis wheels came in 4x114.3 15x7 +7 it would be awesome, but they don't, so 240 owners are sol.

They are thinking that even if they did make them in 4x114.3, 240 owners are too cheap to spend what they want for them, not alot of 240 owners would buy them since its hard to lowball retailers.

lol some of the pharasing they used is funny. Extreme Deep Lip Technolgy, Uniquely Desgined Lip System....Well, for some reason I think it's funny.

Also it's kinda stupid that they give the lip size but not the offset

OHHHHH, so it WAS the euro sportmax VIP wannabe crap. that's the ultimate poorness. and 20x8/20x10 is irrelevant for s-chassis owners. no one cares about them. the only "awaited" sportmax release was the 16x8 +0 002. and we all knew about that. this thread sucks; let it become an overstressed rota.

I've seen the 502's in person roughly a month ago. They look, "aight" Better than those brokeback mesh everyone clamors over. Weight is under 30lbs a piece for sure. Price wasn't bad either. There is a distributer on these boards. But I forgot his username...

Axis is making alot of their wheels in 4x114.3 now, I wouldnt be surprised if they started making that mesh wheel in 4x114.3 too. And who cares who makes your mesh wheels :P, lol. Most people run mismatch southern ways/ssr reverse/enkei/whatever other company makes meshies on all four corners of their car anyway :P, lol. Axis makes some good products imo. The thing that I think really sucks though about almost any US based "knock-off" wheel company is of course the weight. I had 17x9 motegi touges that weighed in at like 24 lbs!

i'de like to be one person in this thread of shit, that says sportmax BLOWS.

thanks for listening.

dorkidori_s13
03-14-2007, 03:04 PM
*sigh*

its like everyone who wants to hate on sportmax wheels doesnt take a few points into considderation...

1) when you buy brand new wheels from work or volk or advan in those nice deep low offsets we all like to see...you have whats called a "waiting period"...and that waiting period comes from the fact NONE of these companies keeps low offset wheels just sitting on their shelves in high stock waiting for them to be sold...nope...they are made to order...so if you want yourself some nice 17x9 and 17x10 work VS-XX in oh say +20 for the front and -/+ 0 for the rears...youre gonna be sittin around for about 2-3 months waiting for your new wheels to show up in the mail

2) COST...that is a BIG concern to alot of people...especially if you RACE your car...now i know some people on this forum are big ballers and have alot of track experience and can afford to break rims that run about 400-900 per wheel (yes thats what real rims usually cost)...but for the MAJORITY of us...if we break a wheel...we need to replace it asap...now if youre content with sitting around for 3 months as mentioned in point 1 made above...then thats all fine well and good...but some of us like knowing that if we break a wheel we can order a new one on monday and have it by thursday or friday...and can have it cheaply...im going to take a stab here (and im not meaning to offend ne one) but i doubt 90% of the people on this forum are D1 ranking drivers and can barely hold a full silde at about 50mph for an extended period of time...i know there are SOME people on here that can drift like champs and pop the rear end at 80mph...but for those who CANT and who have a very negative opion on cheap wheels...understand this...when you hit something with ur wheel at 50-80mph (ie: sliding off the track into the dirt...hitting a barrier...hitting a hard dip)...youre going to FUBAR it REAL good (hell even a curb at 30mph will do considerable damage)...again all leading to my cost point...id rather break a wheel (which ive done before) and know i can replace it in 3-5 days for under 200 bux...rather than replace it for 400-900 and wait another 2-3 months

3) the 4 lug curse...because SOME of us dont feel like spending 800 bux on a GOOD 5 lug conversion...were sitting here wishing nice staggered and lower offset 4 lug wheels would come about...and they have...though not as nice as say Advan Super Racing 3s or Work VS-XX...knock off companies are at least giving 4 lug people a nice alternative...the performance of the wheel may not be up to par with your $789 per wheel volks...they at least get the job done...and look good while doing it...so what if they weigh a little more...MOST PEOPLE DONT CARE!!! MOST PEOPLE LIKE ASTHETICS!!!...i know i prolly just pissed off alot of the hardkore performance people...but i dont care...its the truth...hence why most cheap wheel companies dont care either...i know my rota D2s dont look NEARLY as nice as the awe inspiring, jizz inducing work meister SP1s (i get all wet just saying that)...but i didnt have the $2000+ at the time for a set of real work meisters...i had other matters to take care of on the car first...i just wanted a nice looking set of FLUSH wheels...and my D2s do that fine...and i didnt have the $1000+ for a set of work VS-XX for the drift event coming up in april i needed 2 extra rear wheels for...so i picked up a 2 sportmax 006 rims...just because i know they will get the job done...and big whoopie if its not a big brand name with a big price...if i smash them up, chip them, chunk em, bend em....WHO CARES...its 140 bux per wheel that i blew for a cheap 17x9

basically what im trying to say with those 3 points up there is its up to the individual...their financial situation...their taste in what they like...and the ease of use or availability for the current market...you guys who spend big money on brand name wheels from japan for your car are entitled to your opinion sure...but honestly...dont start knocking other people down because they dont want to take the route youve taken...i myself would love to dump 2 grand on a set of nice wheels sure...but in all honesty...thats 2 grand i could have spent on the motor to finish it...or 2 grand on a roll cage and a good seat...some people have a different agenda for their car and just want nice looking wheels...doesnt matter on the performance or the weight...they just want something nice to look at for the time being to help themselves feel accomplished in their projects...dont knock them or their choice of wheels because of it...yah you may have a 2 grand set of rims on ur car...but youre still running that baby dick T25 turbo...and you coulda spent that 2 grand on a real turbo instead...see the point??? its all in your priorities

so play nice children...were not all out to do the same thing

eh...i dont care...ive been building 240s long enough now (5+ years) to know what you can skimp on and what you cant...and when you go road racing/drifting/autoX then you learn that wheels actually break/bend/chip quite often...and most people dont understand this...sure if you have the bank roll its fine...but for those of us who bust out asses for the money we make...its nice to know that there are alternatives to the problem

Really? Like used wheels dont exist? I can buy so many nice quality USED wheels, or a set of Enkei's which are stronger than that cheap shit, and still have cash left over to take your girl out to a nice seafood dinner (and never call her back.)

People build their cars with their own time-frame and their own priority. Good quality wheels are not so important to you because you live in Vegas.. your roads are smooth and shit, do you even have a canyon to drive through? Atleast those who live in SoCal, know what its like to drive on fucked up pavement and through bumpy canyons. To me, the priorities would be suspension, brakes, wheels/tires. Engine is important, but last for me.. stock SR is a very reasonable amount of power, assuming its operating properly.. minor tune is all it needs.

Upgrading a turbo is fine, as long as you match it with a quality manifold. But lemme guess, maybe SSautochrome is good enough too, right? Because if it breaks, who cares.. its cheap to fix!

Fuck that shit... its pathetic how people rock these shitty, non-fitting, unpainted aero parts with flashy big heavy knockoff junk wheels and shit tires. Buy some quality parts or drive a stock accord.. fucking tools.

ok this is rediculous, we're not talking about 911's, mk iv supras, m3's, sti's, evos, blah blah blah.. we're talking about 10-18 year old 240sx's.... if we where "patient and did it right the first time" we'd spend a few years taking the bus then bomb around in some nice car....

240sx's are economical cars.. they not even insured as sports cars.. people need to get realistic about what they have.. stop pretending theyre driving god knows what.. 99% of the kids here on zilvia are <25 years old, students and obviously dont have the $$ to spend on $1000+ wheels...

people who bust off kids for not waiting around and wasting a huge %age of their desposible income on non-knockoff wheels are just being an :mrmeph: and advocating economically retarded expenses

rota.. sportmax... for kids putting from school to the crap ass jobs that students get are fine.. i laugh at young loosers i see who have all theyre $$$ "invested" into their old, worth at most 3-grand car.... im not refering to older fully employed people, when im your age i'll surely be spending silly amounts of money to LS-x an s13.. but i wont be an asshole and criticize those enthusiastic teenagers who threw down a weeks worth of their summer jobs pay towards some nice looking wheels for their commuter car....

who cares if kids want to rice out their cars it'll only make yours better.. way too many people on zilvia bash rotas and sportmax wheels without having any sizable reason to do so.. besides other peoples opinons they read on zilvia

Because if it breaks, who cares.. its cheap to fix!

actually...vegas roads SUCK...weve got potholes all over the place...the city is one big construction zone...theres constantly new things being built ALL OVER this town...and the roads here are constantly in a state of mishap...maybe if you go out in the suburbs like summerlin or anthem...outside of that...youd better hope your car rides like a 4x4 (or you know a ton of back streets)

actually SS autochrome is crap...im still running a stock manifold on my car...and for good reason...i know it will never break...cant go wrong with cast iron...i dont have 1200 bux for a HPI manifold at the moment and have no problem staying on a stockie

i guess everyone has their opinions...and some are less mature on expressing them than others...but i think more people need to stop knocking others for not spending more money on certain aspects of their car when their agenda is different...its annoying

who cares if kids want to rice out their cars it'll only make yours better.. way too many people on zilvia bash rotas and sportmax wheels without having any sizable reason to do so.. besides other peoples opinons they read on zilvia

preach on brother =)

(very good point that alot of people tend to miss completely)

ok this is rediculous, we're not talking about 911's, mk iv supras, m3's, sti's, evos, blah blah blah.. we're talking about 10-18 year old 240sx's.... if we where "patient and did it right the first time" we'd spend a few years taking the bus then bomb around in some nice car....

240sx's are economical cars.. they not even insured as sports cars.. people need to get realistic about what they have.. stop pretending theyre driving god knows what.. 99% of the kids here on zilvia are <25 years old, students and obviously dont have the $$ to spend on $1000+ wheels...

people who bust off kids for not waiting around and wasting a huge %age of their desposible income on non-knockoff wheels are just being an :mrmeph: and advocating economically retarded expenses

rota.. sportmax... for kids putting from school to the crap ass jobs that students get are fine.. i laugh at young loosers i see who have all theyre $$$ "invested" into their old, worth at most 3-grand car.... im not refering to older fully employed people, when im your age i'll surely be spending silly amounts of money to LS-x an s13.. but i wont be an asshole and criticize those enthusiastic teenagers who threw down a weeks worth of their summer jobs pay towards some nice looking wheels for their commuter car....

who cares if kids want to rice out their cars it'll only make yours better.. way too many people on zilvia bash rotas and sportmax wheels without having any sizable reason to do so.. besides other peoples opinons they read on zilvia

thats why this is a public forum where ppl voice their opinion, i have my opinion about "fake wheels" as do u have ur own opinion about "kids" that spend their life savings on $1k+ wheels for a commuter car.

my 240 is not my daily driver, and i put my car to good use, its my own personal preference to spend as much as i did on my Works, but ive got a fulltime job that supports not only my hobby of cars, but other things as well.

the reason why i made the comment of ppl settling for less was because as someone above me stated, wheels break, forged or cast...but obviously forged wheels are of better quality then cast made wheels, and it would be less hard on the wallet to "break cheap wheels"....but then u have to go and spend more money to replace it with the same quality crap that originally broke, when they coulda saved a little bit more money and get something of better quality and better size n offsets

(hope i didnt ramble on too much...im like 1/2 asleep)

Hey sportmax must not be that bad, mine got stolen hehe, but I can feel like whatever. If I had rare 1500-2000 dollar baller wheels on my car, and they got stolen, I would not had felt the way I did when my sportmaxes were stolen. I liked them, they looked nice, and performed better than my steelies, or Enki mesh. And remember the 240sx is the new civic, the nicer your wheels, the more people you will have trying to steal your car. So I will stick with the sportmax hehe. For the guys who want sprtmaxes, just get them and forget what everyone else says. They are really not that bad (yes Ive owned them before) becasue when your crazy jdm wheels get stolen, you are the one that is going to have to replace them.

Thats right, you dont own a 911. If you did, you'de be spending over 5-6k, easy.

The G35 customers that come my way, easily spend 4k on wheels, new. If you want some used volks, you can get nice used TE37's in 19x9.5 and 19x10.5 with tires for a little over 2.5k...

Now, I *would* say that a 240SX should be on the same fucking realm as an STI or EVO.. minus the fancy paint. Drive an old car, but dont treat it like its an old piece of shit. Take care of it. People here rock multiple colored fenders and bumpers that dont even fucking fit. Why put a custom bumper if you're not gonna paint it? Rocking a custom front end is great, rocking an unpainted slapped together piece of shit - is NOT. Fuck, might as well keep it stock.

Why buy new SHIT wheels? Please, tell me. Because there are plenty of high quality USED wheels that you can buy for 500-1000. If you can afford a tiny bit more than 1000 for wheels, you can buy some Enkei RP-F1's - strong and light. Maybe if people ran good tires and wheels, they wouldnt have to worry about rear-ending someone. Instead, people have this stupid american mentality of "who cares.. if I smash it.. i'll put another crap quality front-end on"

Seriously... when I was poor and young and couldnt afford shit, I bought used stuff.. refurbished it. You dont even know how many pieces i've had to take apart, clean, polish, paint, or powdercoat because I was young and broke. I had one thing, more time than money.. so I used that time to make things pretty.

What do I know though, I rocked FD wheels for a few years. 16x8 +50.. the "uncool" offset, right? Wrong. Its called extended wheel studs and machined spacers. I was able to run a wheel that was durable, light, and fit nice quality tires.

All of a sudden, the 240SX community makes the 5zigen FN01rc the new "stock wheel" with shit tires being standard. Give me a break.. besides running big brakes (which most dont even do), there's very little reason to need a 17" wheel/tire. If you're struggling to afford a 17x9 knockoff wheel, god only knows how you're struggling to afford a quality tire. I can see it now.. "hey maing.. i'll suck y0 d1ck for some tires!"

Hahhaha.........thats my buddy rockin sportmax. not me.
And if you can find me my wheels for that much at a junkyard then thats one hell of a comeup. Your trying sooooooooo hard .... 15x7 +20 Rikens like in that pic(that is a clean car though unlike your nasty shit)...is nothing like SSR 15x8 -10. Watch me post my wheels in the FS section and have them sold for over 900 in a day. I have pm after pm i can post up of people trying to call dibs. Why are you so mad you got caught up trying to hate on that guy when your broke shit is weaker???
