damn it's been a while since i've been here..i am now stuck with a 2000 Honda Civic Si..i bought it with only 5,000 mile on it for 12g's..and man..the wonders of Vtec is pretty sweet...the car feels fast on the freeway because of the strong top end...but this car turns like shit..it turns like it's riding on pillow and have a wierd feelings to it when i drive it hard, don't get me wrong with the civic i done all the suspension mods i can.i bought front/rear strut bars. got bigger sway bars, lower rear control arm bar, got new urethane bushings all around and tokico shocks, alignment kits front and rear and ground control coilovers..i even got it corner weighted like i was a king of auto-cross...all this and...my stock s13 with 120,000 miles shocks and worn out tires can take corners way better...i miss that RWD feeling...now when i attack corners i feel like dog crap...my civic will be done and paid for in two months after that it will be my daily driver...i'm going to find me a s13 coupe and go all out on it with suspension mods i would love a s14b but i'm more of the S13 type...and maybe if i feel like it a sr20det will be fine...i don't really care about power i just want handling...oh that day will come...it will..it will....

really i thought those were supposed to handle quite nicely for being FWD. well, we heard it from a former 240sx owner. 12,000 still isn't too bad though.

I really don't like front wheel drive cars but those little civics do take turns pretty fast. One of my cousins use to race the old civic si's back in the day (late eighties) and he used to tell me that you have to start breaking earlier in a front wheel drived car than you would in a rear wheeled drive car. Also he said something about the front end tucking in to the turn but I didn't really pay any attention to him because I was never really into front wheel drives.

hmm... I can't event touch a prepped Civic Si on an autox course. Either you aren't driving hard enough or you have a bad set up. W/ 375/450 GC's, AGXs, and a Comptech rear bar, I will own a stock 240 on any track.

My guess is that you don't know how to rotate the car well enough. Slow in, fast out. Trailing throttle oversteer is your friend.

I had an 89 Celica ST for a while. I don't like fwd but you can go pretty fast. Just have to get comfortable being on 3 or sometimes 2 wheels. Just take the turn like you did with your 240, the only difference is that when you exit the car will probably understeer (if not, push it harder) then just keep your foot on the gas and let the front tires complain all they want and you'll come out of the turn at a decent speed.

Basically if the wheels are squeeking that means you're doing it right.

That's not too bad as a daily driver. Drivetrain sucks, though... I like the high end, like the fact you can go faster than 110mph, but it's just an awkward car... The shifter is so far away and there's so much head room and cup holders and you can use the rear seats and there is NO TORQUE!!! But whatever floats your boat. With 12K, I would have found a nice used S14 and gone insane with the rest of the money. Screw daily drivers .
