Ok I know this topic has been mention a few times, but I just want to make sure...

so... I was driving on mission, around 37 mph or so and I see a Alhambra cop following me, so I shift to 4th gear(trying to keep it as quiet as I can)... and out of nowhere he starts to flash his lights and I got pulled over.. he tells me I had a modofield exhaust... I have a 2.75" dual tip magnaflow which isn't even loud.. unless I rev it up... but I was going at around 2k rpm or so.. anyways I get a fix-it ticket...

now from wut I read from the other post bout fix-it ticket is that they don't give those out anymore? that true? I checked my ticket and it's checked on correctionable box... so is it a fix it? and what should I do about it? where is a cool place to take it to? i'm afraid cuz i have a SR and a straightpipe..

thanks

that sucks. Well is the ticket for only the exhaust? cause if it is take off the exhaust and put a stock one back on. Then just show the ref. I really doubt they'll make you pop your hood there and tow your car away.

I have a flange attached to my muffler tip, so I can take off/on at will. I suggest you do that too if you know your gonna get pulled over because of an exhaust.

This is the first case in a long time I hear someone getting pulled over for a fix it on the exhaust. I live close by and I haven't seen or herd anyone get pulled over for that anymore.

hmmm the funny thing was that he told me to go to the sheriff and they'll check it off.... not a ref...

yea.. fix it ticket is different than ref ticket...

you can just go to any sheriff/police station (i think) and have them sign off on it...

I got a fix-it for no front plates... so i put it on, showed the officer, and was on my way...

it might be different for exhaust but i wouldn't know... good luck..

ok I called the Alhambra police department to confirm, they still issue fix it tickets, they told me that I can go to the Alhambra Court and ask for a deputy to help me check it off... but what I want to know is.... are they going to B*tches about it? or how are they going to do this? anybody with input?

just reinstall your stock exhaust and you'll be good.

Take it down to Tony's muffler and they'll probably charge you $45 to redo your stock exhaust. They're discreet and won't say anything if you have a straight pipe and SR. They're located on Garvey and Walnut Grove. If you're going east on Garvey, they're located on the right hand side across from the Taiwanese center.

Once you get it fix, take it down to Alhambra municipal court. drive into the parking lot and tell the lady you're here to get your car inspected. Drive into the lot and find the designated parking stall. In front of the stall is a intercom w/ a button on it. Push the button and a deputy will come out. Tell him what you're there for and show him you fixed your car. Once thats done, you'll go inside w/ him and he'll stamp/sign you off. Pay $10 and be on your way.

you got lucky if you got a fix it. Usually they dont complain about anything else, they just want to see if you fixed the offence or not. driving around 626 isn't good for ppl with sr. :(

I just took care of this myself. I had a blitz nur-spec catback and I got pulled over by chp for this. I got the fix-it ticket which I think is cvc 27150 (b). I bought a stock-ish (and much quieter) exhaust from ASpec Logan and went to a chp office to get it signed off. The chp in Alta Dena was a douchey little asshole who was arguing that it didn't look/sound "stock" so he wouldn't sign it. The actual section in the CVC said that it must not be excessively loud, it said nothing about "sounds like stock". So I grumbled and got an extension to figure out what to do next. I went to the CHP station in Baldwin Park near my work, and revved up the same exhaust and this cop signed off on it right away.

Anyway, just get something that is stock and quiet, and the chp will sign off on it without any drama. Just be cool man, be cool, hehe.

Questiong about Fix-its. If you get one, can any station sign it off or must it be in the city that you got it in?

dont think it has to be the same city. just take it to chp and they'll check it off. dont take it to sheriffs, they'll just tell you to go to chp. and no, chp isnt going to give you attitude. they dont really care as they do this everyday. quick inspection and you're on your way. whitewings consider yourself lucky.

Hmmm,

I wonder if my mom's fiance can just right off a ticket it for me. He's a Sergeant in the LAPD.

Dice or no dice? Or MUST it be CHP?

He might be able to do it. I don't think it has to be CHP. Why don't you just ask him?

Yeah, happened to me too. w/ the Blitz Nur Spec!haha^^(s13charlie). Just go to east LA college and they have a ref station on the eastern side of it. ask around there. It's tucked back in by the auto dept. They rev your car up in front of a decibel reader and if it's under '95' i think, then you pass. Mine was actually too loud, but the comp. said I passed and now I have a paper in my car that says my shit's legit! werd. Still a PITA. Still thinking 'bout replacing it to something quiet. Search a little more and you'll find some old threads on this, with an actual number to call.

Well, I'm sure there's a difference between exhaust requirements in Texas vs. So-Cal where the cops have nothing better to do than harass guys in import cars.
