When I put the car in reverse, and start backing up its fine. but if I push the clutch in I start getting a bit of a shudder sort of feeling, almost like the car is going over small bumps. The bumping feeling goes away after I let the clutch back out and put the car in neutral. I cant really figure out what the problem is. I got under the car and checked for loose bolts and worn bushings and saw nothing.

I replaced my clutch flywheel with a blitz clutch and lightweight flywheel unit a while ago. broke it in fine. and that same day I also swapped from VLSD to open diff (long story, dont ask, but im putting a tomei 2way in soon)
I never had the problem before, and probably started noticing it maybe 1-2 months after I swapped the clutch/diff out. Im not sure if its related to it.
Could something be wrong with my reverse gear or synchros maybe?

anyways if anyone has any ideas, throw them out in the open. Its not a huge problem, but it would be nice to figure out what it is. And it ONLY happens in reverse. Not going forward.

ok well tonight I had quite a bit of trouble shifting into reverse from a dead stop. It just didnt want to go into gear. So im guessing it maybe synchros are becomming worn.. but would a bad/worn synchro be causing the problem I posted above?

when you are backing up, do the wheels feel like they are binding up? Any resistance? Any noise? Let me know. One of my friends is having an issue like that. We are suspecting the rear wheel bearing. However, his is any auto.

As far as your trans goes. Is it hard to go in to reverse all the time? Or was it just that time? If it's everytime, then I'd look at it being the syncro.

my car has a similar problem. mine has a resistance and makes a wierd noise when in reverse. Im pretty sure it is due to an lsd though. it also has a clicking noise that is based on rotation so if I reverse faster it will click faster. no worn bushings out back though.

also has a high pitched noise like a zip tie is hitting the inner fender on the rear but goes away with braking or acceleration.

240silvia, i guess it feels like there is resistance. the car feels like its on lopsided wheels or something, like a "da-dunk, da-dunk, da-dunk" At first when I first felt it, I immediately got out and thought I had a flat tire.

Buddy of mine suggested re-bleeding the clutch, and if that doesnt work picking up a nismo slave cylinder. Sometimes when Im backing up with clutch only half engaged, it suddenly 100% engages and the car jolts. Its pretty scary.

as for the reverse. It just started last night, Ill monitor it this week, re bleed clutch as well, and see how its doing in a weeks time.

my s14 is doing the same thing except not in reverse. i recently changed the motor, but the car has been sitting for 2 months. A friend said I need to bleed the clutch, but I dont know how to do this. my clutch pedal is very loose, almost no resistance. and getting the car into reverse is tricky, the shifter sticks. any one know where a how-to for bleeding the clutch is?
