check with your local DMV. Generally for non title stuff you have to fix whatever is wrong, replace all DOT and emissions parts. ETC. Its not usually worth it, especially on a car like a 240 where you can get them for dirt cheap with clean titles.

Just get the owner to get their fucking title and then get it.
Or if you want the car immediatey make note in the bill of sale about it.
I've sold 2 or 3 of my cars with lost titles...I just put in the the bill of sale that they will recieve it within x amount of time and bam...I got the money, they get their title.

i sold my last s-chassis with no title.
there's a form the Ca dmv has that you use to do so, just have to have it notarized.
ought to be similar in bush-land.

Don't know how it is in Texas. In California there are a couple of different papers.
1. Paperless title transfer signed and filled out by titled owner.
2. Lost or Stolen Title Form again filled out by titled owner.
If you have either of these two forms plus a bill of sale your good to go. They do not cost you anything either.
Though there is a $15 title transfer/resissuance fee.

i'm here in san antonio and i just bought a 91 SE hatch with no title yesterday for $800 the thing is he already has the paperwork filled out for the lost title. he said sumthin about filing for lost title, getting signatures, paying a fee and that the title should be in the mail after all the paper goes through... we'll see what happens

i did a lost sherity bond (i think thats what its called). costs like 200 for that, and then u gotta send out letters to the previous state and owner (i didnt have to do that because the vehicle hadnt been register for 10 years, so that was waived). then u gotta pay 5% of the total value of the car at the DMV to get the title. :bigok: I did it about a week ago. You might want to do a carfax before u pick it up, because if its stolen, and u try and get a title, your out the money you paid for the car and the car.
