As far as I know 97 & 98 have an internal ignition coil. You could probably find out more on Fresh Alloy.

the KA has a distributor. Without an ignition coil, you won't be going anywhere without pushing

It must be internal because there are only 4 wires coming from the distributor cap.

Odd, mine has five wires, one going out about a foot away in front of the drivers side strut tower. Dunno where they put it in the s14
You could always pull off your distributor cap and find out.

I replaced my rotor / cap / plugs a couple of weeks ago, but didn't think about there being 4 wires. The Magnecore set same with 5 wires, but the box reads 91-96 240sx's so i guess the other wire is for the S13's. Oh well, just never heard of a car with a distributor and no external ignition coil.

5th wire goes to coil on S13's. S14's have an internal coil inside the distributor.
The question is... is it ok or worthwhile to use an aftermarket coil in an S14 with the internal coil, or do you have to swap distributors to make it worth it?
