First off search is broken, so go easy.
Ive put it off for too long. Im trying to run power wire through the firewall so I can power my amp in the trunk. I cannot for the life of me find any way to get this 4gauge wire through anything. I remember someone mentioning there is a way to run it behind the ECU but I look and all I see is a jumbled mess of wires. Another way is through a grommet via the engine bay however It wont let me jam anything past a certain point. Ive never had so much trouble running wires!
Pics would be helpful of course, thanks in advance.

open up your hood, look at the firewall on the passenger side, you'll see where all the wires go thru to the cabin, that's the only place i'd stick any wires thru, because it's the easiest, cut the rubber thingy if you have to to let more/larger wires thru...
there is another way thru the driver side, on the fenderwell, around where you can see that the hood release cable goes to the cabin... not sure about the passenger fenderwell, never looked there

everything is so jammed against the firewall its hard to tell. Are you talking about the wires directly below the vin plate? theres some emissions garbage thats imovable right infront of it. Is there anyway I can thread something from the inside of the car and have it pop out in the engine bay?
Drivers side wont work, my power wire isnt long enough and my RCA's are being run through that side.

no, i'm talking about the fenderwell, you can't see it from the hood on the driver's side, you have to kinda see it from the bottom/side...
i'd cut the rubber thingy that holds up all the other wires so it can fit more wires...., or the lazy way is to pull the rubber grommet/gasket completely out and then run a wire outside of the rubber grommet/gasket into the cabin

The passenger side wire-bundle/grommet that Wei240 is talking about, will put you up behind the glovebox. So just shove it through from the engine bay, and then reach up behind the glove box. It may even be behind the carpet, cant remember.

Best option:
Remove the rear portion of the fender liner. You'll see a rubber plug high up behind the fender apron area, it's for the rear washer hose to run on UK cars. Drill it out slightly and fish the wire through, it will fall into the kick panel region right behind the ECU.
Otherwise you can drill a hole right below the A/C evaporator drain from the inside, that's a pretty clear place as well. I try to avoid running through OE grommets only because if you have to remove the engine harness you've got a big piece of wire caught up in it.

yeah, i guess pics would help,
the only two places i run stuff from the engine bay to the cabin is that one behind the glove box on passenger side and the other one is on driver side fenderwell...

well, there you go, listen to the man
R240NA, good advice/info. Didn't know about that being the spot for the washer line on UK cars.

I can see the spot behind the ECU, perfect place to run it back towards the amp. Where exactly do I put the power wire through to get to the fender? Also is it easier if i take the whole wheel off when removing/reinstalling the liner?
As for the other option I want to make sure we are thinking of the same grommet, this is a crappy pic so I apologize:

The problem with this is on my car there is a mess of emissions equipment blocking the grommet. I really cant see anyway to stuff the power wire through this without removing the emissions stuff first.. that looks like a daunting task. thanks for the help thus far.

It's not under the hood at all, it's in the fenderwell, behind the liner. Hence me saying "remove the rear portion of the fender liner". It's a single hole, all by itself. You can cut the wheel all the way and gain enough access in most cases.
The other picture is close, there's two holes where the AC lines run into the evaporator, below them is a third hole for the drain. Right beside it where the brake lines merge to the framerail is the place I've used. You can better see it inside the car though.

Ok I get what you're saying, I'll try this tonight. Thanks

When I cleaned up my main harness (thru the hole in the firewall), I took off the glove box / air conditioner and intake unit so I can get past the obstructions. Then putting everything back together took roughly 30min.

When I did my battery relocation, here is where I ran the wire:

That's the front passenger fenderwell. You can't really see it, but there is a hole going to the engine bay behind that harness.

Beautiful picture! i'll rip my liner off today and finish this off if everything goes well. Thanks

Nick's picture above is great, but it only applies to S13s. The hole I speak of is in the same spot but much smaller and has no harness going through it. That picture above is for the ASCD/ATC wiring coming from underhood. S14s have the ASCD in the engine harness and the ATC on the other side of the car.
