i have 2 keys. one from nissan original and the other one is copy.
original key is worn out big time.. i can pretty much take the key and put it in and out in any position. copy key that i don't usually use... doesn't do that so i know it is the original key that's worn out.. you can acutally see the difference... i'll put some pictures up later.. i don't think i brought the spare key in my car today (i'm at work :) )
so,...
i want to put my og key in my memory box.:naughty: :naughty: retire it, and get a new one. i don't like using the spare key cause it looks kinda ugly like you:eek:(j/k)and i need a spare.. just in case.
i don't wanna go cut another cheap looking key to use everyday.. i want something nice...... cause i work now :)
i found nismo key... but that's about it...
http://www.cartype.com/images/page/nismo_key.jpg
is there any other nice looking keys you guys might recommend? doesn't really have to relate to nissan....
thanks..

nismo key is all i can think of. nothing like a gold plated key to make you think about where the $60 went.

Damn homie, thats ghey as fuck.
Home depot has keys, so do the people you call when you lose all of your original keys.
get some of those.
spend the 30$ on rims other than the steel that I know is on your car.

Why. As long as it doesn't break of in your lock cylinder it's fine.
No need for some baller ass key.

I'll take a pic of my Nismo key. I always get comments on it, it's really nice and I think was worth the coin.
Nice car might as well have a nice key.

Hahaha this reminds me, I had a butterfly knife key for my Jetta when I was in high school and thought it, my American Racing rims, and my RF 12" shit woofer were the coolest things on the planet. lol @ me then.
Does make me nostalgic though, I wonder if anyone makes a VW/Mercedes/Lexus style flipout blank for 240s? I'd love to put the guts of my alarm in it, and have it cut for the car, so I only have to carry 1 thing. Anyone?

If you do your own mechanic work; I've always liked the screwdriver key. This is where you use the handle from a stubby snap on (of your favorite brand) screw driver and put your key in the end of it. I made one for my car it looks dope when its in the ignition.

...oh...and Nismo keys are cheap if you can find a dealership to sell below list (good luck!).
I've had one for YEARS...paid $26 for it back in '99-00. List is only $30 or so...

The MBZ flip out key is shit, I've seen one in person. The key blank is wedged in with a set screw and it's loose as hell, and the alarm portion is just hollow, so it feels very lightweight. I had thought about gutting another remote to adapt it over but it'd be more work than I'm willing to try, especially when the rest of it is so janky.

I tried that but i could not get the metal part out without messing up the handle.
How did you do it?

I actually bought one of these keys for my old S14 back in the day. I really liked the solid feel and stainless steel construction. Someone told me once that they were bad cause of the weight putting stress on the ignition cylinder and slots thus, causing it to wear out prematuely. I used mine for about 1 1/2 years with no problems. I also liked how the solid const. would allow you to open the trunk the quick way, with the key still in the lock, and not bend the key. One of my old keys did that.....frustrating.
Not bad for the price...

:stupid: Seriously how fucking hard would it be to CNC a chunk of aluminum or steel, press in a blank and anodize/laser-etch the fucker with your logo and sell for $49.95 to trendwhore 240 owners. Maybe Viceroy should jump on this amazing business opportunity...
LOL at the responses in this thread...
I've broken two keys for my 240 so far, each time I just take the busted halves to Home Depot and listen to the key-cutter bitch about how they don't want to do it, it will jam the machine, yadda yadda yadda... I talk them into it and they key comes out decently, albeit a little more sloppy each time. My one and only key is so bad now it won't open the passenger side door, and only works in the driver door one way (I thought the OEM key worked no matter which way u put it in?)

Mine's pretty fucked up too. Can't open the trunk. HAH, gonna get a new dealer key soon.
You wanna make me one if its so easy for you? Custom etching? I'll give you some designs... If you're down that is.

:werd: haha
Dude I thought custom key CNC'ing was your business model? You could probably make a fortune selling these to honduh and hyundai owners :) It would take someone a couple minutes to whip this up in CAD and upload it to the CNC machine... I only wish I had a well trained cigarette-smoking monkey to design me parts in CAD and upload them to the CNC mill =/.
If you wanna pursue it more, I'd suggest you check out http://www.emachineshop.com/

I have access to a CnC mill at the student machine shop. I guess I can give it a shot. Hahah, I get free material.
But the anodizing or etching would have to be sent out for.

For sure. I would just leave that shit raw machined looking, or put it into the tumble polisher.
You could probably do this easily by using a key blank inserted into a slot in your key "base" with a couple countersunk set screws to hold it in place.. and/or epoxy it at the base of the slot. Custom "Zilvia" branded keys? hmmm :)

haha. i was working on my car at the time and took a bunch of random pics. My car is always locked unless it is sitting in my garage. And I got this key for free, it came with my car. And it is a real silvia s13, no need to swap any cyclinder. If you guy do get one of these, you do not need to swap cyclinder. All you have to do is take your your current cyclinder and get a lock smith to match teeth of the cyclinder to the key.
