Check this out. I just got off the phone with Amsoil. The GL-4 vs. GL-5 debate is officially over. The problem has been rectified. As long as the oil has been tested for MT-1 compatibility, it will work fine with "yellow metals" like brass/bronze synchros. So, you may all rest assured that it's OK to put GL-5 in your tranny as long as it's MT-1 tested and approved. Yay! 3 more bottles of Amsoil Series 2000 75W90 to go with my new B&M shifter please!! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

What are the benefits of GL-5 over GL-4? I think the Red Line MT-90 is GL-4 oil, and thats what I have. Should I move to GL-5? I know Amsoil kicks ass, soo..

GL-5 is even more resistant to heat. It's better all around. And it's more common and easier to find. Sorta like DOT 4 brake fluid is starting to become easier to get than DOT 3. If you like Redline, stick with it. I just have had good luck with Amsoil, so I'm staying loyal to them.
