do I have to get a reflash if I only want to swap turbos?

send it back for a retune.
$100 last I heard..
if it's the same turbo spec, no need to retune.
if it's different well..yea.

Could help to be more specific

gennerally any changes that would affect the settings...yeah...especially if its a different trim.

Well when you upgrade the turbo that means more AIR which means MORE FUEL in certain places in the map and less or moreTIMING in certain places as well.
So send it to get retuned.
I just pull up my laptop when i need a retune...but i also have a standalone.

Steve Shadows got it.
Put it this way Turbo A at 7psi is not the same as Turbo B at 7psi it comes down to CFM.

yup, CFM rates output from the turbo change depending one the inducer and exducer on the turbo as well as teh actual dynamics of the compressor wheel.
The different exaust wheels will allow more efficent or higher gas flow through the turbine and manifold and will decrease relative back pressure and increase peak output as well.
All this means, MORE FUEL, more than anything.
If enthalpy sold a MAP sensor conversion kit with some sort of pre-tuned computer that would be sic.
The new AEM JIC iirc piggy back modifys outputs instaed of inputs like the s-afc as JohnGriff has blasted it for (rightly so). check that out too.

thanks guys for the info. Being more specific, I am going from a greddy T517Z to a GT28RS. I assumed the only difference would be the ball bearing center, but doesn't the computer determine how much fuel to send based on MAF readings? I figured no matter how much air is coming in or at what rate the air is coming in, the fuel should be consistent as long as it is tuned for the specific size injectors and MAF. I dunno, I'm new to all this, so any help is super appreciated. Thanks

Well I would guess that due to the different spool characteristics then yes you would need a retune. The GT28 will be pushing more air at lower rpms, therefore if you dont retune my guess is you will run lean.

WTF, sorry, I cant believe I just did that. Thread revival :(
