I need to know if I can just use any caliper on my S14. Basically Im trying to go another route besides the z32. Can I use any caliper on my car and what would I need?

Thanks!

well you can use the brembo from the Evo Lancer with the adapter. Skyline Brembo. Are you trying to keep the cost down or just trying to see what else is out there?

well im just trying to see what else is out there. For example. Ive seem people put on porsche brrakes on other cars and I was wondering if it applies to all cars. Would I need like special brackets or something? Is there like a size limit? Im looking into a 6 piston right now. lol

are they ap calipers from a 240sx/skyline/z?

why WOULDN'T you want to get 3z brakes?

what are you trying to do? improve stopping power, get bigger brakes for show, be stupid, or what?

how much work and money are you willing to invest?

Asking "what brakes can I use that aren't 3Z" is retarded. What else do you expect back except "it depends"?

you could make it fit with a little imagination and money but do you really need 6 piston calipers on a 240?

Z32, skyline brakes, and i believe some people are using like Q45 brakes or something...

other than that you will need custom brackets for the brakes. People rocking porsche calipers have brackets. but i dont think anybody makes them for 240s because nobody can afford the porsche brakes in the first place.

snap. AP 6 pistons are like, worth more than my car ATM. lol.

anyways, you can make anything fit, as long as you feel like making an adapter for it.

I've got a Wilwood four-piston setup from Fastbrakes. Excellent setup.

The guy who owns the Stillsucks website used Porsche brakes because at the time they were easier to source and cheaper than other options.

These days, unless you want to be different, the best bang for the buck brake upgrade is the Z32 brake swap. It's relatively cheap. It's relatively easy to swap. It's relatively easy to source parts. The installation is well documented.

That's why everyone is swapping over to Z32 brakes.

Whether everyone that puts Z32's on their 240's actually needs them is another story entirely.

FWIW, there is a vendor on this site that sells an entire Z32 upgrade kit (Z32 fronts, S14 rears) for around $900. I believe it includes everything you need to complete the swap.

q45 brakes. Done. If it can stop a near 4k lb car it can stop your car.

The main point of bigger brakes isn't to increase stopping power (I could lock my brakes up at over 100 if I wanted to) but to be able to hold more heat and thus increase the amount of braking it takes to fade your shit.

well i ended up getting a z32 brake setup. The reason why i wanted to put the AP setup was because i could have gotten the fron 6 piston pair for about 200 thats why. Thanks for your help everyone. lol

bingo. and unless youre s14 is some crazy track car or something youd be wasting your money buying anything other than Z32, skyline, or Q45 brakes. whatever will bolt right on and is better than your S14 brakes is the way to go.

ap racing calipers.... man.. thats some nifty good racing brake setup... we used those on the gt3 cars i use to work on... you dont need them if you drive daily tho.... theyre nice calipers even if u had them.. easy service work... tho about porche calipers... they are freakin expensive for the pads and rebuild kits...

Fastbrakes.com is where you should go for more info on this. If they don't already have a bracket that will work you can send them the caliper and they will custom make you the brackets for a reasonable price.
