my s14's paint is in pretty bad condition.... some of it is exposing the sheet metal... my parents are afraid it will rust... so they said for a early b-day present... they will get me a new paint job... im just gonna keep it the same color... RED... but now it got me thinking... this would be my only chance to get a body kit and kouki conversion (using the money I was saving for the sr swap)... cause other wise ill have to come up with more money for painting those... but iv been saving up for an SR20DET.... i mean later down the road i was gonna get body kit and kouki... but this amazing opportunity by my parents just came up and i dont know what to do.... what would you guys do i would hate to put the swap on hold cause i want that the most.... but then again... my paint is pretty bad... oh.. btw... my driver side fender is crushed... when i get a new fender and have that painted.. it will be brighter than the rest of my car and it would look funny.... my parents pointed that out.... so THEY decided that i should get the whole car re-painted...

ok.. im pretty much just asking if you guys would get a body kit and kouki conversion if you got a new paint job for your B-day present... i mean it will save you money in the end.. right??... or just leave my car the way it is.. get the paint job.. and keep saving for the sr swap.... Sorry if this post is kinda long.. i just wanna see what would you guys do in my situation.. THANKS IF I GET ANY REPLY’S

Whoa that is a complextion operation it sound like u need more of a kouki and a paint job more than a sr20det at the moment. Ur parents are good to help u out on this... i say get paint job and kouki conversion.. well what ever u go wid jus make sure ur gonna be happy wid it. There are plenty of sr20s so u dont need to rush at the moment

hmm i just may stick with my same head light.... does anybody know if the rear tail light assembly on the 95 and 96 is the same size as the 97 - 98 cause im just gonna put the money from the kouki away for my sr.... the head lights dont make a difference to me... what do you guys think of the nismo body kit i know its the cheapest... but it seems like the nismo body kit will gimme enough clearence for a big FMIC and thats all i really need from a front bumper… thats how i see it..

It would be better to just get the kit and paint job, but not the kouki conversion. You can get the taillights converted anytime, if you want, but you don't have to. Keep the stock headlights, I love those headlights anyway. The SR can always wait, but just save as much money as you can for the swap and you'll have it in no time.

Your lucky you are getting a free paint job, but IMO I would pick black over red, but thats just me.

As a final alternative you can always keep the exterior stock, I always loved stock 95-96 S14s, drop it and it looks soo sexy,.

i would pick black over red to... but im not selfish.. or spoiled.. so the thought of them doing something like this is great… and im also glad my parents are cool enough to do this for me... so ill take the red.. save there money cause i dont want them to pay extra to get the door jambs painted “i heard its more expensive that way” and possibly the trunk I mean.. I do.. but im just happy there even doing this for me… so.. its all good.. thanks for your opinions

lol.. thats probly one of the many reasons i ask on your guy's thoughts on the nismo kit... the front bumper looks stock kinda... but a little bigger for a big FMIC... i also think the s14 would look more complete with side skirts and that add to the rear bumper....

Do you have a picture of the Nismo kit or a link to one?
I don't know what it looks like but if I were you I would get the paint job and the sr20det swap that you've been saving for and forget about a body kit or conversion.

That kit looks pretty clean and $600 won't be hard to make up. I guess I would get it, have the car painted, and work to make up the $600 (plus installation?).
Isn't a Kouki the 97-98? So you couldn't do the Nismo kit and a front-end Kouki conversion, right?

"So you couldn't do the Nismo kit and a front-end Kouki conversion, right?" nope.. and yes.. the kouki is the 97 and 98 and i decided to not do the kouki... cause it really doesnt matter to me... im not too excited about the kit really either... im getting more worked up on the sr swap to tell you the truth... and then save up for some coilovers... i also wanna get ahold of some stock s14 SE rims... but i cant find any in good condition...

I wouldnt go with any company (INFINITE) that lists their product as the "S13 Nismo kit", yet uses a photo of a car that has an "Erebuni" liscense plate.....oh wait.....is that the same EXACT photo thats used for a cheapie kit that sells on ebay under a different name each time? Why yes it is.

Know what you are buying. A copy of a copy of the Nismo kit is not THE Nismo kit.

Getting back to your original post......I would get a paint job. If something is an eyesore long enough, you will fall out of love with it...and end up scrapping the idea of the SR. Also, dont give your parents the impression that you are trying to take advantage of their generosity. If they offered a paint job, I'd go with that...but make sure you get your body kit first....and make sure you get a QUALITY paint job. Also, take it to a place that will professionally install the body kit, AND paint your car. Get your parents to pick up THAT bill....not just the paint..but the install and paint.

professionally install the kit??? if its jsut as easy as taking off the front bumper and putting it back on then that sounds pretty easy... but if they have to drill new holes i guess they can do it.. i dont wanna get the alignment all messed up... and have a lop sided kit... oh yeah.. i decided to get a bomex kit from my friend cause he has an account with them and i could get it for his price... thats an extra hundred or 2 more for the bomex... no shipping cause he is getting one to...

Bomex is nice.

http://www.bomexaero.com/bomexusa.html

Yeah, the aftermarket bumper probably wont come with holes pre-drilled. The front might not be terribly hard to fit, but remember some aftermarket front bumpers require you to purchase different front turn signals that are specific to each bumper. Also, if you get the whole kit (front, side skirts, and rear skirt) you will for sure want them to professionally install it....especially the side skirts.

i want the UAD-110 front bumper... its nothing special.. almost looks like a C-west kit... but not as extreme..... but i like it... it also looks like the turn signals from my s14 would fit that... do you think they would work???... but if i get side skirts put in... whats so special that i would have to have them professionally installed?? thanks..

i say get the paint and body work, but skip the kit and keep saving on the sr, you will definatly be glad you did once you get it, trust me, it is bad ass., my car looks like shit, but the sr rips and the bov and ic scare the shit out of people. its FAST.

With the side skirts, I've heard you have to drill a few holes into the body to get it to fit properly....and alot of the JDM bodykits come with Japanese instructions....so either you have to follow the picture part of the instructions, or take it to someone who's done it before and can install if for you.

thats what Ive heard, could be wrong....

yeah xhdriver... im having second thoughts on the body kit.... im really not looking forward to one yet... but as of now my main focus has been on the sr... and im almost there.. im also looking for stock s14 SE rims... ( how wide are these rims?) i like these alot.. and i may just keep them for a long time once i can get a hold of them..

I would definitely go for the paint job and kit now as to opposed to later. You would save overall money and have a new paint job free.. If you are planning to get any type of kit let it be nismo or whatever i say do it now unless you have enough money later after the sr20det swap to get them individually painted.

SR240DET,

the 97-98 taillights are a direct bolt on to the 95-96...im getting some soon from Marketplayer..bought it from him..and yea..they do bolt on..dunno if ur question was already answered..cuz i juss skimed thru everything hehe

as for ur question..hrmm..pretty tuff..i would get the paint job..but dotn do the 97 look..juss get the 97 tails..since IMO..i think a 95 with 97 tails looks hella sick and damn sexy..so yea..juss do that conversion..save the money u had to the conversion to the SR..and ur parents givin u money for paint..spend it on the paint..not something else..to me..its kinda messed up..cuz ur parents are lookin out for u to make ur car look nice..touch it up to make it more sexy...dont go spending a good deed ur parents are doing on something else...unless they said.."heres 3gz..for a paint job..but if u wanna spend it on something else and ride with a dirty lookin 240..its fine with us"..then yea..go ahead and spend it on watever u want..but if they gave u money to spend on paint..spend on paint..they only trying to look out for u

as for the NISMO kit..i wouldnt get it..too stock lookin for me...but it does have good gap for FMIC...but..IMO..id get the JUN..beautiful..and was made for a big FMIC..but its damn expensive...*read more of post* ok..u wanna go with BOMEX..bomex is tyte..i was about to go with BOMEX..but then..they started selling it on ebay!!..i dont wanna be rolin around in a bomex kit..and they asking me.."u got that on ebay huh?"..or yelling " dats fake bomex..that shit is all over ebay!" so yea..reason y i dont wanna get BOMEX nomore..as for drillin holes..man dont worry about that..its not like its gonna be the hardest thing in the world...my bro and i installed a Wings West full kit on my bros GSR..and we drilled holes juss to make it more secure..and it isnt gonna be all lop sided..so dont trip about that..*read more of post* ok..dammit..next time..ima read everything

oh yea..RED is tyte..i have a red one hehe

KiDyNomiTe,

you think a 95-96 s14 is sexy dropped..i think a s14 with 97 tails dropped is damn SEXY!!..
