Here are the DriftBattle dates. Please note that we will be mixing up the course this year and will not keep the same course setup every event to give you, the driver, better technical skills for any drifting condition. It’ll be fun!

From Tracy and the San Joaquin Valley:
*Take either I-580 or I-205 West to the Mountain House Parkway (Formerly Patterson Pass Road) Exit (west of Tracy)
*Go Southwest on Patterson Pass Road until you reach Midway Road
*Turn Right onto Midway Road and proceed to the Altamont Motorsports Park entrance (on right)

From Livermore and the Bay Area:
*Take I-580 East to the Grant Line Road exit (east side of the Altamont Pass).
*Turn left from off-ramp.
*Follow Grant Line Road East 1/2-mile until you reach Midway Road and turn right.
*Proceed 3/4-mile to the Altamont Motorsports Park entrance (on left)

Darius, as a host of the event I won't be driving much if any at all... I've got to make sure you guys get your seat time. I'll be out there a little of course... gotta break in the new ride ;)

Cool. Last drift battle didn't have much seat time at all (NOT fd pro am). Will it be better this year?

Our goal is to have as much seat time as possible for the drivers. We can't guarantee any amount of seat time... only that we'll have continuous driving throughout the whole event. There will be no down time between run groups and we have the same rules as last year.

I'm not too sure what you consider a lot of seat time... but considering the field of drivers will be from novice to advanced (we will group drivers accordingly) there is always the chance of an off track which would cause down time and less seat time for some. I know we had our share of baps during the first event. Please take into consideration that this is not a parking lot event which usually produces the most driving time (other than a private event).

Socal has more events because they live in a suburb/desert. More space, everyone has their own piece of the american dream, so they don't whine and require permits like they do in Norcal - an urban development... with public transportation that ppl use.

Okay guys... I just got back from my vacation so I'll answer as many questions as a I can if Al hasn't already.

The event is from 9am - 5pm, there was an error on the flyer template we will updated it ASAP. Tech will start as soon as drivers are allowed to enter the venue at approximately 645am. A full schedule will be posted to the site mid next week and emailed to registered participants.

If you would like to be placed on the waiting list you can email us at [email protected] We will add you in your order of contact (date/time) to the list and you can show up the same time as the other drivers the day of the event with your cash in hand should someone not show on time or cancel the day of.

Cancellations: If you are cancelling you are responsible for finding your own replacement. However, seeing as there are at least 5 people on the waiting list from this thread already... feel free to contact us if you need help. All we will do is provide you with the waiting party's email address and it is up to both of you to coordinate the transfer. Once the spot is sold, the seller/cancelle' should notify us of the sale and replacement driver/car information so we can add them to our list.

The drivers meeting will occur on event day and event day only. This is MANDATORY. If you do not show up or are late (we're dicks) and you will not be able to participate in the event and will not receive a refund. I believe the AMP driver's meeting is for drivers/teams interested in the AMP facility and operations etc and is more tailored to the NASCAR guys.

AMP may charge a spectator fee to watch, however we will not be charging a spectator fee.

There will be 2 courses, one will likely be reverse from our first event for the beginners... and the second we have to figure out still, we want to change them up at each event to keep it fresh and fun so everyone doesn't just know one config.

FYI to all participants... Keep in mind again there is an off track rule at our events that we will enforce due to the fact that AMP will complain if we ruin/put too much dirt on the track. Going off track also cuts into a ton of track time for the other drivers and nobody wants this! We will enforce it if you drive outside the limits of you or your vehicle.

Yah it's rough... BUT if you were a driver in the grid and your session was cut short because someone was driving beyond their limit and kept going off track causing shut downs to get them out of the dirt... you would be pissed!

We don't enforce it unless you go off twice... trust me nobody likes going off the first time anyway... something usually gets messed up!!! Staying on track will not only get you more seat time... it will save you money!

yep at the driftbattle I did last year I lost about half my driving time from monkeys using pushbrooms and dangerous lunatics operating cleaning machinery that left just enough dust for them to be completely useless.

Saving when you're out of control is as imporant to learn as sliding in control!!! This is why we want everyone to slide as if the whole track was bound by walls... nearly all of this one IS!!!

Yes you are allowed 2 passengers that will be able to enter with you at 7am. Anyone else will need to pay a $5 pit pass fee to Altamont and cannot enter the pit area until 9am.

Just a reminder that event day, Sunday, March 11th is when DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME goes into effect. Please set your clocks forward accordingly and do not arrive late to the event. We will hold to our schedule no matter what.

yep sometimes people understeer and they think that if they push the gas harder the back end will magically come loose to save the day. ya have to clutch kick or e-brake instead. or slow down but thats no fun.

One of the dudes that wrecked had his silvia front end fixed for a trackday a couple months later. I let him bum my spark plugs cuz my motor borked and then his car caught fire on the track. Hopefully year of the pig will be luckier for him.

That is because there was a group change. There's only 15 on each groups.

We only allow one car at a time. If we allow more than one car and the front car spins out, the follower can't do a full run...

Luke was going easy on you guys in Tech... next event won't be as easy to slide through. To make it easier on us for next time everyone should have their own torque wrench and tools ready to tighten lugnuts for us to see. Hoods should stay popped in the tech line and everything should already be cleaned out of the cars ie: floor mats and loose articles should already be out of the cars.

I was taking it easy on the non safety items, such as dirty brake fluid, zip tied body panels, etc. I was suprised some of the cars passed, but in all it worked out great. To all the people I told to fix their cars. You wont be allowed to run at the next event if those items are not fixed.

From my point of view from being an instructor. I must say that everyone adapted very well throughout the day. I watched quiet a few people that started off kind of rusty, but ended up laying down runs that would have qualified top 16 at pro am. Great job guys.

Keep in mind for the next event we can not pass any cars that have tech issues. So dont think we are being mean if you dont pass, because you have been warned.


If you guys have any constructive input from the event let us know.

Personally I thought it went great. I even had a chance to slide around my completely stock GTO with a blown clutch and worn out diff. lol

You know what I notice at this event vs the last one. Everyone was so friendly and not acting like IM TOO GOOD.

Just start talking to people, most of the new drifters here in norcal are really cool! Especially those team thrust guys, really helpful!

haha, that fender art is tiote. Was a good event. Thnx to everyone who helped. For the ppl who trippin about not knowing anyone, all my frends are out of the drift scene, or flakes, but I went ther by myself and ppl were coo. Just dont be shy about asking for help or seeing how other ppl approaching the course. IMO, main thing about these events is that you learn.

I learned that I should use wheels/tires that are slightly better matched size wise... cuz my car was all over unpredictable! :/ and seat time can't hurt... which is why you should just go! BTW, seat time was great. Each session was like 40min per course [A and B], and we got about 5ish runs per course out of the 8 sessions.

I was the one with the home-made camera mount. I think tech was concerned about it possibly hitting my neck so I moved the PVC pipe to the driver side. I was wondering about the Next event, I know it is competition but if some of us like to just practice and test our cars, do we still get seat time or if we loose the first round, we are out ? what's the setup for that event ??

There will be ample practice before elimination starts. It will be non-stop as many runs as possible until we have to break to have drivers prep for elimination. If we have time after the competition we will open the track back up for extra runs... but ONLY if there is more time and AMP allows this.

one extra set should be enough. The track didnt really eat up tire that bad. Unlike like old Altamont did.

It's always good to bring and extra set just in case, but we do not condone long burn outs on the track etc. Since this is the case and the surface is not harsh ass Aren mentions I would say you'd be just fine with 80% of tread left on your rears.
