<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/notify.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':notify:'> Does anyone know how to remove the rear deck on an S14? &nbsp;I'm trying to install a rear STB and i need to take the deck off to access the rear towers. &nbsp;I would greatly appreciate any hints or tips if you've done it before

First fold down the seat in the rear. Then take a screwdriver or something similar and simply pop it up gently. You can also use your fingers but be careful to not bend to much.

Yup, it just pops off. Shouldnt need a screwdriver, i always just yanked it up with my hands. Just be careful not to break off any of the snaps.

sorry to revive an old thread but I didn't want to create a new thread. So once I get the rear deck open, how does the rear STB mount on? it's not like S13 where you have space to mount on. S14 tower space is like a cup, so which hole do you put the bar through? any pix?

The straight strut bar type will require you to cut a section of the strut wall out to make a hole for the strut bar to go through. It's a bit of a PITA but it's doable.

There's the other type (Nismo) that goes up over the rear deck. That one will require you to cut holes in your rear deck cover. Easier but not as cosmetically sound.

Good luck.

Um, no. The Cusco style bar does not require cutting, there's enough of a slot in the steel to slide the end plates through without doing anything additional.

rdm is right.

as long as the mounting brackets they provide with the stb has the bracket offset there is NO cutting required.
i bought a cheap one from jc whitney and it didnt even need any cutting to fit

I cut my deck, painted the bar flat black, and you can't even tell it's there unless you're looking for it. As they said though, be careful not to break the clips or your deck won't hold down as well and will rattle and make noise.

urrggghhh man too late, by the time I got on it, it was too late. So those bracket looks like the correct one? is this the kind where they poke out of the rear deck? can you show me the kind where they don't poke out the rear deck but rather hidden in the trunk.

can I see some pix of your set up please. that'll be nice. hehe thanks
