so i think im going to keep my car S14 but i have a little boy now and im going to need a 4 door. Only thing is that i dont wanna ride around in some ol junker kia or 93 accord..something half way nice (no performance mods will be done just a cruiser so power is not a problem)

1.so im looking for something under 10k cause i wanna save money because im buying a house by the end of the year.
2.i want something i can put some 18's or 19's , drop buy some hids and be set.
3.i can pay cash or small payments a month like under 250 hopefully.
4. something reliable with hopefully under 100k miles
5. preferably import (no 95 taurus or escort type of american cars)

Used WRX..done.
I dont know your situation but if I were you I would be focusing less on buying another car and more on my child future..

Go even cheaper and pick up an older 2.5 RS. Those still look 10x better then the current ones.

^^ iuno what wrx you can get for under 10k with under 100k miles

id say just buy an newer accord. i mean it will last, has enough space, and the ones that go for 10k arent too bad right now. i dont know about putting 19s on them though.

but what Baka Sama said, if you have a kid now, think about his future and sell the s14 and buy a better reliable car

used is300. add a couple more g's and get a newer is300. i think my friend spent 13500 or somethin on his '04. i might be trippen, i have two friends that have is300's and i might have the numbers mixed up. one of them is an '02 the other is an '04. so regardless....for around $10,000 you can get a pretty clean is300. altezzas FTMFW

Ive seen used WRX's go for 10-12k with under 100k miles. If you have the extra money to spend on a car buy a Toyota Yaris sedan. You can pick up a used one with less than 5k miles for a little over 11,000.00. Safe/reliable/low miles/cheap

I have a 2000 Camry. Nice and reliable, but boring. 19's would look really dumb too.

easy, get a used ES300, buy some rims, drop the rest of the money on the 240. 93-97 ES300 with some JDM projectors and OEM chrome wheels. Tint the windows and go. 92-93 you could get 5sp. There rediculously reliable, theres decent room in the engine bay. Cheap to repair too, you pay camry prices not lexus prices. I had a 94 2door camry with 360k on it, never had a problem. Once i find one thats 5speed im going to pick it up, i dont care if its got over 300k on it id still trust it.

i say get an older maxima, like late 90's, pretty good gas mileage, decent power, can lower it on 19's, i dont know bout the hid's on that one though, but are super reliable, used to have a 98, never had one problem with it. those come manual as well. that just my 2 pennies

I just recently picked up a '98 cherokee with 86k for under $6k. not exactly what you had in mind, but just throwing out other ideas. makes a great winter dd, car seat fits in back, and before too long, 4.5" lift and some 32s

Toyota Matrix/Vibe, Mazda Protege 5, Subaru Foresster, Ford Focus, Corolla, Civic, Accord. Skip the 18's or 19's idea. Its a waste of money and people wont think its cool on some stock ass car. Babies dont like rough rides either.

p.s. If you can get lucky and find an SVT Focus 4 door get it. It wont suck balls and will still be tottally economical

i drive a 99 corolla. it may just be the lamest car on the planet. but its at 115k, and i feel like it will go forever. gas mileage is good, everything works, and i paid 3k for it. cheap + reliable + like 30mph = something to consider. its my way of ballin on a budget. haha. i spend all my $ on my S14, but i have something that will never let me down. peace of mind is everything.

is that it's top speed? :keke:

didn't think of the protoge5 or svt focus, both cool cars.

if you're bent on vip (i'm inferring from the 19s), get an older Q or LS400.

just get an accord 99+ super reliable.

don't get one with a V6. the transmissons are weak. i used to own one :hs: check out V6p.net if you're hard headed and still want one.

I agree with some of the guys above, if you want a nicer luxury car get a Y33 (97-01) Q45, pretty cheap to maintain and quiet/comfy. Slap on some newer OE Infiniti wheels and you have a nice cruiser with lots of room and good looks. Some of them came with HIDs I believe, and you can check out M35/45, G35, FX35/45, etc for nice wheels. Or just get something super cheap, reliable, and bland and save money in the long run.

why 19's and hid, it's just for driving around, save money for the house is a better idea than picking up some useless accessory for the car that'll only depreciate in value...

but 2000 camry is pretty reliable, parts are relatively cheap, def less than 10k
98-00 altima's are good too, if you want to keep it within the family, it's actually much more fun to drive than the camry, i mean by 100000x's
not sure about used maximas, some of the old old maximas seem to have a bit of problems
i'd rather not get a honda, people will steal it, or some parts of it, like the emblem, how gay...

you can get the 2 previous model subaru legacy's, 4 door or wagon, with well under a 100k miles on them for under 10,000 dollars.i just picked up one with 122k on the body and a rebuilt motor for 4300. i saw alot of nice ones in the 7-8000 dollar range that were too much for me but still good deals.

Stay away from the 2.5 motor in the subarus, either you have blown headgaskets, or the stupid cam pulley tensioner is defective and the car knocks and squeels like a mofo every morning. I know ALOT of people with that problem. I had a 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon, AWD and 5sp. 215k on it and i didnt change the oil for 20k miles or the oil filter for 2 years (100k). It kept going until the power steering belt snapped and went behind the timing belt (my fault i never put the cover back on). If u could get a newer legacy, you'll love it. But like i said earlier, 92-96 ES300 is the way to go.

Just lower it with some eibach springs and call it a day. Same motor as my camry and I beat the piss out of it every day. 360k on it and never had a problem.

I do not like the Toyota v6's that came in the Camry's. They sludge up like FFFFFFFFFFFFF and are nightmares to work on. I'm pretty sure you haveto pull the intake manifold to do plugs and I hate cars where you have to do stupid shit like that for simple things.Shoot for one one of the 4's if you wanna Camry.

yeah, I have the same situation with my Ford Expedition, half the engine is under the firewall, I can't even reach the back 4 spark plugs. You'd think that a vehicle that big would have a nice spacious engine bay.

Come on now, thats something reserved for foreign automobiles. Dont forget where your Expedition was built.

Mexico? Eh, maybe the Ford truck plant in VA ~ anywayz...

I like VW's for DDs. Although some suggestions are money (a local kid has a bomb ES300 on works/aero/gt wing and it actually looks really classy, and Q45s are awesomely reliable also), nothing says VIP on a budget like a Passat on 19s. The VW motors are built to last (as long as you dont go boosting VR6s) and the cars are built with a quality you sometimes miss in Asian cars (heavy doors, rust-proof coatings everywhere, great stock sound system, etc). Shouldnt have any problem finding one for under $10k

Just get a car.
Don't spend a lot.
Save money.
19s on stock suspension is nasty.
Those $200 HID kits suck.

Go get a 94-97/98-02 Accord.
Hell, even a Civic.

Just get a basic/reliable car. Don't need to impress anyone.

I'll take a civic for DD. It's a gas saver. In addition, they are too slow to get the police's attention.

on the ES300 yeh the sludge motor deal, its a recall. Also the motor is easy to work if u ever even have too. If you cant change the plugs bring it somewere.

SAY NO TO VOLKSWAGON. The motors last, its everything else. Rediculously expensive to repair, insane to work on. Honda or Toyota. (i havnt had luck with nissans as a daily lol).

Maybe an SC300?

Just to those who say i should be worried about my child more than a car..obviously thats why i said im getting a new house by the end of the year thats a given I already have the money.

I think I am thinking of my child by putting his comfort first and safety overall...instead of a little 240 with very little space and not so safe...

With my current finances I can afford having two cars or one nicer car..but if i can have the best of both worlds (sport for track days and a four door for trips to day care) then i would be happier i dont see the point in spending 25-35k for a car if i can have two that would make me happier for 20k.

and the rims and stuff isnt a big deal since i will keep the 240 but if at all possible i just wanted something decently nice.

Oh the reason i wanted opinions is because i have buddies in the same situation( car fanatics with children) but sold their toy to buy a blah sedan and now are damn near depressed cause now they have no car fun..
