pulling codes i searched

so i switched out my odometer but it turns out the guy i bought my car from took out the check engine light bulb and therefore i never knew i had codes..

i had a mazda and with those you can put a paperclip jumper between two pins in the obd and the light will flash the code

Can i do this with my 95 (although produced in 94) S14? so i can fix my problems? oh i went to discount to have them pull it they said it has to be a 98+

i have a 95 produced in 94 you can read the codes with a code reader look under the pass side for the hook up
