I found this guy that does rom tunes, mostly for hondas, but has done some SRs too. He'll sell me a custom dyno tuned ecu for $175 for my redtop. That's insanely cheap! I asked how he could do it so cheap and he said that he takes a stock 240 or altima ecu and then sets it up to properly run the SR. Does that sound possible? I'm thinkin bs but I may be wrong. Should I just save my money and get a Power FC? Has anyone ever heard of doing this "ecu swap"?

I find it hard to believe he can source an ECU, modify the circuitry, and then tune the fuel and ignition maps to your custom setup for only $175....seems like he should colllect more money for this kind of deal.
I'm not sure why he wouldn't just use your stock SR ECU as a base platform and then modify from there. Because the KA ECU is set up for a distributor-type ignition I would think some major motherboard modification to the ECU would be required not to mention rewiring would need to be done to match the SR wires with the corresponding KA wires to maintain proper engine control and data collection. I think it's best to keep the SR20 ECU with the correct SR20 engine and either use some type of piggyback or have it PROM tuned by someone with alot of experience and success...obviously Enthalpy or ASH SPEC
