Ok, so from what I hear, the s15 6-speed tranny will bolt up to any sr20 as long as you have other hardware (driveshaft, etc.) from the s15.  But will you really see any benifets of the extra gear?  From what I have heard, many people in Japan, swap out the 6-speed for a 5-speed because the shorter gear ratio's don't let you hit full boost if you raise the levels.

This might be confusing, it is really hard to explain on a computer.

Tell me what you think.

the s15 6 speed tranny isn't very popular here, due to it's weak gears.  i believe, the 6th gear was made very thin and weak to fit it in a 5 speed tranny.

Yeah that is true, my freind in japan has told me that most people there  use the s14 5-spd trannys becuase the s15 is to weak and the 6 gear is useless.....but the s15 engine is better so they just are able to swap the trannys and other stuff neccisary...

That's a persistent rumor without a whole lot of basis.  Even if it was true, just because a lot of people in Japan do it doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.

It will fit on any SR, but there's no great advantage to having it that would justify the cost.

Just FYI, the Australian press has complained about the S15 6-speed on various occasions.  It's a close-ratio box, so it's not going to drop your cruise RPM or increase your top speed...  just force you to shift more often.  It'd be useful on a peaky naturally aspirated engine...
