i know that i dont have lsd on my car because i left one big skid mark when i spun my tires....but my question is this: does lsd help performance.....and in what way(s).  also how much would it be to buy a used lsd.......

anywhere between 250 and 1500. 95-96 Infinity j30 is a direct fit so if you can find a used one you should be looking at 250-400.
If you go with a 300zx or 240sx lsd you will need to get the output flanges with I think are 150 each.
You can also go after market like kaaz, nismo, and quife(sp?) which will run you anywhere from 600(ebay)- 1500..

so then 220 bucks for an lsd off of an s13 silvia from japan wouldnt be too bad a deal then right.

Is it already state side or is it still in japan? Think about shipping, those sucka's are heavy and its going to cost and arm and a leg to ship.

There are various FAQ's about this, but I'll sum it up:

Your stock open diff has six-bolt flanges and is "short" (no ABS sensor)

The J30 LSD is "long" (has ABS sensor) but might fit. &nbsp;It has a slightly different ratio. &nbsp;Early J30's have five-bolt flanges, late have six-bolt.

The 240SX optional LSD is "long", has the correct ratio, and has six-bolt flanges.

The Z32 300ZX NA LSD is "short", has the correct ratio, and five-bolt flanges.

JDM LSDs from S13s and S14s with the SR20 come in both lengths and both flange styles, but should have the correct ratio.

The six-bolt flanges are available from Nissan USA as a stock replacement for the late J30 and 240SX w/LSD. &nbsp;You need two so the cost is actually about $300.

There is another option, which is to get a set of five-bolt axles to correspond to the five-bolt flanges. &nbsp;JDM S13 and S14 pieces will work, or, so I've been told, axles from an early J30 will fit.

these output flanges....where can i get them...can i get them from my local Nissan dealer or will i have to buy them off of someone,.....
