View Full Version : Oil
I just recently changed my oil by myself using Valvoline Durablend.
How many quarts should I put?
Is 4 bottles too much? Cuz thats how much I put.

There is so much in a name.
Yes, four quarts is the rated amount for the oil pan. However, that is assuming you got ALL the oil out when you drained it. From experience, if you didn't jack up the driver side, you probably had at least and extra 1/4 quart or more sitting in the pan (on an S13, the drain is on the side of the pan so it will retain quite a bit of oil that is below it, not sure if an S14 is similar). In any case you can check the level on the dipstick and adjust as nessasary. Otherwise, all the capacities should be listed in the owner's manual for future reference.

When I worked at a Nissan dealership, we always put in 3.7 or 3.8qts into the KA motors. A little extra won't hurt it, but next time just put in about 3 3/4 bottles (qts) of oil. As 240 2NR said, the capacities will be listed in the owners manual (if you have it). They'll be towards the back.
