polished z brakes

well i finally got a day off and was bored so i thought id try a new project on polishing my z brakes. Seeing as how i have polished many things b4 i thought this might be somthing kinda cool. i havent really seen any pics of the polished z brakes but im sure there is but well here are mine still in progress and few of my other projects that ive done.

pretty nice.. how did you polish them?

well first i did some heavy grit sanding to try and smooth all the casting marks off then used brass wire wheel to get some of the oil and other stuff off in hard to reach areas now i am using 220 grit sanding to smooth stuff and will just work using finer and finer grit till its really smooth and polish it all with some compound.

i used some white rouge, and most of work is by hand but i did use the dremel to get inbetween the fins. i'll post more pics when it starts to look better

I was gona do the same thing but decided it is too much work.. so I just painted em red.

they wont look like that for long unless you keep cleaning them^^
I guess thats expected from any brake finish though

dont usually coat things that will get hot it'll start to yellow, usually polish everything at least once a month to stay fresh looking

Brake calipers have moving parts. pistons. also brake fluid. rubber seals. etc. it doesnt work that way.

i work at a metal polishing shop and those look pretty good you did it pretty much how we would have good work
