All of the pictures I have seen of the Megan Racing Boost Gauge don't have the needle light up. Are they really so cheap the needle doesn't light up?

I started a thread on Northwest Nissans, and someone confirmed it does light up, the one in the pic is just burned out or something. This is just bad marketing on Megan Racing's part. That picture is from their website, and its the picture all vendors use. BTW amazon.com has them in stock for $56 shipped, not bad at all.

yeah it lights up, they actually look pretty cool at night, very easy to see exactly what's going on. During the day it can be tricky depending where the sun is, but yes the needle is red at all times and illuminates at night I'm pretty sure. I got 2 megan gauges for like $75 shipped off ebay, so you can get them extremely cheap

Just to confirm...The needle does light up red.
I bought boost/water temp/oil temp gauges off a local guy recently & tested them the other day. Here is my opinion on them...
The bezel on the oil temp gauge was a little mangled, so I popped it off and disassembled the gauge to see what the guts looked like. After my inspection, I have to say that these gauges are made about as cheaply as possible, from the plastic bodies down to the plastic gauge face and plastic lens. The boost gauge is the only one with an aluminum body. There are no dust seals or o-rings anywhere in these things, so the lens gets dust and crap behind it. There is no grommet on the "wire hole" on the back of the body, which will probably chafe the wires eventually and make a short. The boost gauge needle sits north of 0 a few mm, without even being hooked up to the engine. I would think this would be from change in elevation -- but my elevation (2000ish) should put more "vacuum" on the needle if anything (assuming these are mfg'd under 2000 ft elevation). I didn't see an easy way to recalibrate the boost gauge, without mangling the bezel to disassemble the gauge.
If I didn't get such a killer deal on these -- or if I paid retail -- I would be really disimpressed with their quality. I would really advise anyone thinking of buying these to save a ton of money and pony up for some Defi, Blitz, etc.

Ugh stay away from Megan gauges.
SUPER dim during the day, can barely see anything.
When its dark you can read what it says but I think the stock gauge cluster is probably brighter.
Trash lighting.
They're pretty much garbage in my book
If you're gonna go with cheap gauges, at least just stick to Autometer
