anyone recomend a fuel pump for a MILD ka-t setup? Will be using T-28 at most with nothing more than 15lbs boost.
I would like to be able to daily drive on stock motor for 3 or 4 months on it though. Not sure if that changes anything.

As far as I've read, if you're interested in any kind of boost for the KA, you need to upgrade the fuel pump. The Walbro hi-flow is pretty commonly used, although some folks mention using a fuel pump from a twin-turbo Z32 or Supra. The walbro is all over the place, I think there's even a group buy for it.
Hope that helps.

great. thanks... I was basically planning on using the walbro but wasn't sure if there were any negative effects of putting it on a bone stock car...(smog reasons included)

Tomei fuel pump, that is the most direct fit for the S14 and flows more than the walboro, thats what i have.

I had a walbro for my car and it made it run pig rich. I was still na and in the process of going ka-t. I was around 50 psi at idle. We also changed out the fuel rail and the same thing happened. I would recommend a fuel pressure regulator also.

so would a fpr make a stock ka run PERFECTLY NORMAL with an aftermarket pump? Reason being- its smog time here in socal... I'm afraid my old pump wont pass(if it stalls on the smog machine=fail) and if i'm running rich i have no chance in hell.
ideas?

just use get a walbro. its only 90 bucks and its a sure way that you wont run lean cuz of not enough fuel pressure.

The Tomei could power the space shuttle! None the less, its awesome.

The motor on the walboro is too small, and tempermental to air pickup. It dies fast. You get what you pay for.
OEM from Dealer Z32 Pump.
Tomei Pump.
Other wise, die!
lol.
A larger pump should push more volume, not more psi. Something was wrong with your setup.

Ok guys...Ill order one tonight if someone could give me a deffinite answer to my questions(please, i'm begging you!!)
1. Will an aftermarket fuel pump make the car run rich if thats the ONLY mod?
2. How many CFM should i need in a pump for a KA-T setup w/ under 300hp?
3. Which is better- tomei or 300zx??
thanks a lot guys..

Get the Walbro ( I have run the same one for over 2 years without issues)
Get a FPR set your fuel to where you want it. 3 Bar is good at static for boost
Get a Wideband so you can see what your AFR is
Get a piggy back or stand alone engine management so you can adjust your AFR (13:1 for around town driving 11.5:1 for full boost)
Don't listen to me and fry your shit. You gotta do things right the first time. Save your money and do it all at once.

dude, again... Warlbro 255lph pump will make more noise and push more volume of fuel, but your stock fuel pressure regulator should keep it running exactly the same. It's literally a 20 min job to swap the pump, and Express Fuel Pumps or whatever has a group buy/special for a whole kit (new sock/wiring/boot) for cheap.

I do appriciate your time and willingness to spend time in this thread... However i don't see how i'm asking for "HALF ASS ADVICE". I have most of my turbo stuff(none of which is installed). I live in CALI with smog laws and need to pass smog BEFORE i turbo this.
My fuel pump is DEAD. I was only asking if i should waste the time and money to buy a STOCK pump, install it, pass smog, and THEN get the aftermarket pump....or if i could go strait to the aftermarket pump before smog. I'm not trying to do half ass work, and dont see how i'm asking for half-assed advice.. What am i missing here?
Jeffmilano answered the question- THANK YOU!! Will go strait to the Walbro 255 pump. After doing some research people say my 370 injectors will be fine on the stock fpr up to 250whp.

edit - damn I forgot 550's also.

just ordered the walbro...thanks!!!
Yeah, i read up a little and people recomend NOT upgrading the FPR with the 255. I think the stock fpr goes up to 300 or more hp... anyone disagree?
