i think its cool, i had the oppertunity to do it with my s14 and never did. the only thing it would suck for is like drive through's, and toll booths other than that jdm pimp status lol

i personally dont see the danger, well ok mabye in getting used to driving the car. but its still different not alot of people do it. i wish importing cars could be as easy here in the states as it is in canada. but on that not the laws are different aswell, the car has to be 15 years old to import to canada and i think 25 to get to the u.s without clearing structural tests but even then thats changing.

idk the exacts on this but if anyone could clear up the standards or dig up an old post please speak up. cause i want to know hard facts too

thanks in advance

I could be (very) wrong but I remember reading somewhere that doing this can make the car's rigidity drop significantly. I'm not sure how much stiffness the firewall actually provides. But cutting another hole through it sounds like it could have negative effects.

I guess people have been doing it (or trying) for a while so there must be some way around it. I'm not sure if welding metal over the old hole in the firewall would provide the same stock stiffness is why I say this.

I try to stay away from putting any holes in my car if avoidable.

I hate these lame ass RHD threads. There's about twenty a year and they're all the exact same. Everyone says it's gay and pointless and then you have the odd ricers with stock 240's going "It's so JDM! I'm gonna do it to my car. PIMP!!!" Oh ya, there's also those few that have done it and rave about how sweet it is, and how it has some kind of benifit over LHD.

Wow, I never knew how much danger the mail man goes through everyday by driving RHD!! OMG! And no, there's no effect on the rigidity of the chassis either. :ugh:

Driving a right hand drive is pretty ok, I don't think it is unsafe, but I would have a definite bias in this discussion. Canada is looking at changing its importation rule but it is the skyline owners who are in the greatest danger. There are some exporters in Japan that could possibly set you up with some parts that could help with conversion but that would only help with parts. As far as people to do it for you I have no clue. If you were interested in parts talk to Feast Auto Export, they do part shipping as well as cars. I talked to them for parts for my car but I managed to find someone in the country. Last you could check in canada for wrecked s13 imports.

If you and another person are at a light turning left, and the other person is going the opposite way as you. You can't see around them. That is why RHD is more dangerous.

The government isn't going to make you convert your car if it's already here/registered. They'll just stop new ones from coming in.

I drive RHD too. I didn't buy the car for that reason. If I could I would have the exact same car in LHD. Currently it's cheaper to buy RHD in Canada and most of the cars come with a few mods.

Converting is still lame IMO.

If you want a S14 RHD Firewall with all the accessories, LMK.

I will agree that i does require one to be more carefull. I am fairly lucky because I am in low traffic area, however if given the choice in the future I would continue buying my cars from japan. I think that to do an actual conversion mod would be alot of work and really only benifit from improved paralelle parking, and getting weird looks from people.

Yah I am not worried about my car as it is already registered. I think the law changing is just sad based on the idea of importing a different car in the future.
