how the hell is that ground breaking? :ugh:

Most people don't even read the link they just post stuff...

READ IT, an then Read the next level advanced, then read expert.

Most people just listen to one sentence like "dude that hks turbo is the sick it will make 5000 hp on any engein its cool and it says GT like GTR or some crap"

That's the point of my post. Not groundbreaking!!, but people like myself still push the T-25 to 63% efficiency range before thinking of upgrading.

Your all turbo experts now?

No one will make crap up now out of their butt...

The graph is to plot displacement vs horsepower.

Displacement in what unit? Horsepower in what unit? A proper graph has units and a title so you can at least not have to guess at what you're looking at.

I figured since non of you guys read the whole link a colorful picture would make you feel good (ps its turbine capacity vs. disp. dmshts.)

Ill keep information to myself next time.

Now i Know why people on here just spread things they hear rather than research...and I dont mean all of us.

Everyone has sand in their vag over me posting a link from garrett. :ugh:

I found the links informative, I'm just trying to figure out what units that graph you posted with no information is in... which no one has answered yet. I hope you do realize there are different measurements of displacement and horsepower.
Thanks for calling me a dumbshit. Now if you will kindly explain it instead of flipping out.

The graph is a colorful representation of capacity whcih is useless for the actual science of sizing. But it does represent possible capacity under a constant whcih obviously we dont know...which I agree with you and have contention with , my intention was not to post that as a guide to turbo sizing, not even close. But hopefully the people who are NOT replying to this thread take some time and that caught their eye with regards to turbines (which btw no one seems to discuss ever, we just argue compressor or 2871r or what wil boltshit onto my car with the least effort and time for me to understand).

your right there are no units, I thought it might spur some interest in general which seems to be like pulling teeth on here while people continually link to BUY corky' bells book on amazon which I am pretty sure is a lot less fricken helpful than actually reading the link and having a cordial discussion on the matter.

cheers to that

and Im glad it was informative.

this thread sucks.

Whoo hoo, you know about compressor maps, somebody call Audi and tell them the R10 could drop a second if they hire this man this second.

Corky Bell sucks, stupid assholes that expect Zilvians to know more than what color their car is suck harder.

Good job posting the links to the turbo tech Steve. Im replying to this because I was about to post a thread linking to them myself because my friends keep asking me the same questions over and over which are all answered by 101 102 and 103, but then I was like I wonder if someone has already done it and searched and I found this thread.

All the flaming this thread is getting (or got, looks like the posts are pretty old) just assert the general ignorance and misinformation people have. Anyone who actually reads through all three tutorials (multiple times because your not gonna remember it all the first time) will have a very good general understanding of not only how a turbo is made and works but also how to match the right turbo to your setup.

So props Steve for trying to inform people! Ill be referring people to this thread.

Im thinking Im going to have to make a thread that points out key things from those tutorials because lets face it, people are lazy and probably wont take the time to read all 3. :duh:

Word. 101 and 102 were nice reviews. I enjoyed reading through the expert section, but I don't even try to pretend I absorbed 100% of it though. +rep to Steve for posting this, because if it helps one person, or even offeres entertainment, it's worth the bandwidth. Thanks.

My dad made me read that whole site pretty much before I even thought about buying turbo parts for my car(I was 17 when I first wanted to start building a fast car). It is a great source, that has been around for ever, its funny how so many poeple have never seen it before........

This probably has nothing to do with this post. But after reading everything, and it being 4am on the east coast right now, I love how you ask some people what size turbo they have (mostly ricers) and they simply blurt out "T3/T4". They obviously dont know trim or a/r of the turbo, or what a T3/T4 really is. and when you look under the hood they're just running like a 20 trim T 1/4 with pvc pipe running to the intercooler and a RFL bov mounted on the valve cover. cause theyre awesome.
on a side note, corky bell has filled my head with a lot of useless information, like calculating engine displacement by bore and stroke. what BSFC is, reading compressor maps, calculating max horsepower which injectors can handle. honestly, i read alot of his books and studied them. I dont need to know this shit, but i do. Doesnt get the ladies though. thats one thing corky bell cannot write about....getting ladies.
