Ive been looking for an unorthodox underdrive pulley set for my ka24de recently, but the site dosent even have them for sale. All they offer on the site is just the crank pulley. I know they make the whole set though (alt./pwr. steering, etc.) because ive seen them on other cars. They had a set on ebay which I would have won but got outbid. Did they stop making them because the acc. pulleys dont do anything? If the acc. pulleys dont even add any power then I dont care about them. So can someone please tell me if the acc. pulleys even do anything, and if they do where I can find them. Oh and I did search but there wasnt really anything decisive about this.

Ok, I just googled and froogled this and was only able to find it for s14's and my car is an s13. Still my main question is whether or not the underdrive acc. pulleys will even do anything.

Fits all 91-98s, the engine is the same so the pulleys are as well.

As for power increases, the accessory set does nothing but look nice.

Not worth your money.

yea im not sure if they sell the whole kit anymore, but they used to, now all you can really find is the crank pulley, because having the rest is just mostly a blind factor since the gains are minimal

Too bad you didn't look on the for sale section last month... sold my complete 4pc set new for $250. But yah, I do know that one of my buddies called them and got them made... maybe if you want them bad enough you can go that route.

well these are GREAT!! If you can find them, 2 of my friends have them on their s14's and they make a good difference!! They look nice yeah, but they are WAY lighter than the stock counterparts so +1 for weight savings and my friend had an almost 10 HP gain after he installed them and dyno'ed his car. I believe super street or import tuner dynoe'd them for a 15 HP gain, i should have that issue somewhere........so I don't see why they wouldn't be worth it

hahaha - the only way you're gonna get 10hp gain out of pulleys is if you dyno first with the A/C on, then dyno after your pulley install with it off... They look nice, and supposedly rev a little faster (which would imply a horsepower gain), but theres no way you're getting almost 10% more power... sorry...

I only noticed a 1hp gain which is negated by correction and temperature. My front seal went after about 6 months so I was not impressed.

i've had a racing crank pulley.. i'de never order one again though. the reduced AC/Alt performance isnt worth it AT ALL. they look pretty, but not worth the downsides for a street car.

You forgot to add that he did a tune up, oil change, fuel and air filters, and bumped up the timing too. Because there's no way in hell he saw anymore than 5 HP off the full set.

but if i have a big enought intrest in pullys maybe i can get them to make another batch. if people are intrested i can find out.

This is shocking, But I believe that everyone should differentiate their posts between facts and opinion. It seems everyone who has posted here that the pulleys are a waste are speaking more from an opinionated perspective. Please try them out and get dynos. I know that HP and dyno readings will vary form engine to engine, but my friend's car had intake, header, exhaust, and dyno'ed a baseline, and then dyno'ed after installing the pulley set. Installing lighter pulleys helps relieve stress from the engine and is better for daily driving. I even found a bookmark I have from an archived post on NICO, (if you are really curious, search for it!) there was a reputable gentleman who did a write up on the UR pulleys which he installed in his 91 s13 SE, and also exclaimed his amazement at his 10 HP gain. (Also, another NICO member reports a 30 HP gain with UR pulleys on his TT Z32) therefore, overall, he definitely recommended the set. KA owners should be happy, there's not much we can do to our engines to begin with.

This sure does look like an unorthodox pulley. Wouldnt it be illegal for them to sell it as an unorthodox pulley, and put the name right on the pulley just like the unorthodox pulleys do if it wasnt one.

First off, don't get all huffed up and assume people are talking out their asses. We're not.

My old car was NA with a LOT of shit on it, I had the UR pulley for a while and then later installed the accessory set as well, though I never dynoed the car back to back on each swap I didn't ever see any gains from the accessories when it was dynoed later and didn't feel anything from normal or hard driving. Though it is possible that the one car with other parts made good power on that special day where the planets lined up, that doesn't mean it's common. I've seen people argue a set of ground cables can do that too, but magazines can easily lie about shit because they're trying to sell their publication and the products sold within and the one kid who does see power gains had a corroded ass broken cable in the first place. There's also no need to explain to anyone how they work and what purpose they serve, we know that already. It's the same effect as a lightweight flywheel, you won't see any power gains but you do free up the potential to put that power down faster, resulting in a feel of more power. And saying a guy made 30hp on a TT Z32 is irrelevant, LS1 guys make that much and more with an air intake, doesn't mean we all will be so lucky.

Lastly, if you're going to base any fact you may have on something from NICO, you can leave now. We try not to believe anything from those worthless fucks unless it's about how a resistor gave a kid 80hp and he was able to blow away an airplane that was chasing him.

My turn!!!!

I agree with R240. The pulleys I bought for my S14 waaay back in the day were mostly for bling factor. The crank pulley gave me better top end, more rev happy, but you're not GAINING power. You're just freeing up some trapped ponies in the crank due to the heavier stock pulley. And the ACC pulleys really did nothing but warm up my A/C and lower my ALT output. :(
I never got my car dynoed I'm just going by my butt dyno....

I'd say buy the crank pulley, throw it on, if you notice a difference great, if not, leave it on anyways it'll look nice with your chrome intake!!

BTW I have a set of the Unorthodox ACC pulleys if you want them, they're anodized red aluminum and in perfect shape, just a little dirty. PM if interested!!! (Hey I gotta make my buck somewhere :naughty: )
