I am looking for a short shifter for my s14.
the shifting distance is just TOO long, can't bear with it anymore.
could you guys suggest any one that works great on 240sx?
i know they have Polit, Nismo..even now OBX...and C's style? out there... what's c's style by the way...
any suggestion is very welcome...thanks a lot
oh..i also want to know which strut bar is best for s14?...i don't need an expensive one..but the one FITs the 240sx the most....
so i don't have do anything with it but directly bolt on....
thank you very much

The "Best" is B&M Shifter, but I havent used it before so I cant attest to its greatness.
I have used however the Nismo, PM, and OBX.
THe OBX and PM are knock offs of the C's and are just as good and very good for the price. I might get one of these myself.
The nismo IMHO was crappy. Didnt shorten the throw enough and rattled a bit.
You can also get a Monkey Magic SS from Japan through IPNMotorsports.com, its only 120$ and is a 1 peice.
Until someone gives a real good review on the B&M I will be buying a PM or OBX SS from past experiance. I hear the B&M makes alot of noise, and I wont deal with that.

i'm installing my OBX tonight/tomorrow if i have time..... i'll post back with feedback.
r u installing front AND rear strut bars?? or just front??
The dust boot is a real bitch to get on the OBX SS, but other than that it's a pretty straight foward install. I'm happy with mine, although its not quite as short as I wanted, its better than dealing with the noise of the B&M like WeST said. One nice thing about the OBX (that I didn't like at first) is it has a very defined click in and out of gears that really gives it a sporty feel.
I have the b+m shifter and it works very well , the only noise I get is between 4700-5200 rpm's and as long as you keepthe knob (mines a momo with the alan screws)tight its really not noticable over the exhaust , but you do feel ot in the knob . I would much rather deal w/ the little feedback and have crisp short shifts , then get the cheap knock-off .I have heard a lot of beefs w/ the c's knockoff(obx and pilot)

thx guys.
oh..yenpit i would defintely like to hear your review on the OBX SS.
by the way, which short shifters are one-piece? is it better than 2-piece?
how about the strut bar?
i am just going to have the front installed first.
which fit the 240sx the most?
Tanabe, Grex, Apex, Cusco, PM, or NISMO which cost $290?
thank you again.
i love 240 man...mush more than my previous GSR.

install went well! my box didn't have assembly instructions, so had to figure it out....pieces to a puzzle! the small plastic swivel bushing at the bottom end of the shifter was a hair larger than the shift rod hole, so i sanded it down a little and finally got it to fit....shouldn't be a prob. greased it all up prior to install. like DSC said, boot was tight (put boot on AFTER shifter is installed argh), but silicon spray helped it slip on quite easily. for the cheap price i'd say well worth it! longetivity is only concern. sorry no feedback on actual driving cuz car is up on jackstands!
if ur ONLY installing front bar, i'd get cheaper Pilot or OBX....theyll work fine. but both their rear bars fit only S13. so if you r gonna do rear later and u want em to match, upgrade to JDM bars. i've got Cusco's coming for my car (as usual theyre LATE !). remember.... rear bar fits above speaker panel below back glass. u see it thru back glass. hope that helps!

thanks for your info yenpit..
one more question, is the OBX SS a 2-piece or one piece?
doesn anyone which one is better?
1-piece or 2-piece?
thx
Does the monkey magic ss have as short of a throw as the obx? I like the idea of a one piece much better and was wondering what people have heard about these in relation to the others out there. I kjnow the obx tend to fall apart and you have to glue them. I'd rather not deal with this. Anyhow, let me know what you all think about hte Monkey Magic one. thanks!.

sorry dude, not familiar with 2-pc shifter...?? the OBX does have the vibration dampner center section, which is a "top half" and "bottom half" permanently held together with a hard urethane sleeve (like the OE shifter, it absorbs vibrations). is this possibly considered a 2-pc, or is there a manufacturer that makes an actual 2-pc u have to assemble...?? if the Monkey is a solid 1-pc without dampner, i'd guess it would vibrate alot.
and about falling apart and, uhhh....glueing it back together....only time will tell!

installing the OBX was a cinch. The boots slid on a little too easily IMO (well, at least in my car).
I bought mine used from Grant, and when I got it the top peice was already seperated from the bottom peice, so I just epoxied them together and it feels as solid as a rock (or pretty #### solid). IMO, it's worth the money for a short shifter, although after a while the shift doesn't seem THAT short. It definitely notches itself in place which feels nice, though.

I drive S14Guy's car and love the B&M that's installed. It feels very firm, basically clicks through gears... overall a VERY solid piece. Definitely worth the price.

I also have the B&M, Best #### feeling to click through the gears. I love the #### thing. Makes the car 5 times more fun to drive.

I'm with AJ, I've heard alot about the OBX vs. B&M, but I'd like to know a little more about the Monkey Magic one. Its cheaper that the B&M, but how good is it?
