if it's clean title, then maybe. also depends on how it runs and drives, trim model, etc.

hmm u should really look at your project as a whole... i made the mistake of buying a 240 that needed work with the intention of doing an SR swap and really had huge plans but really mostly day dreams. The car turned out to be beat and when i didnt have as much money as i had planned i ended up driving a beat ass car for a while b4 i sold that POS. now the way i look at it is unless u dont mind driving a car that is torn to shit or you got the cash on hand to start work than id wait and find somethin in good condition (im sure there will be a lot of people on this site that will disagree) but straight frame, good exterior, decent engine and as long as you dont mind the crappy interior id say go for it but be careful also try to negotiate for a better price

sounds good so the price is too high then?

You also need to factor in the price of the plane ticket...
I would never go look at a car and not have the option of not buying it. Why don't you try to find something in your area??

I'd say for a 91' with crappy interior you be better off negotiating for about 1500, but end up paying 1700. Seems fair.

Here's a basic rundown from Kelley Blue Book for Portland. Try putting in the guys zip code and see what you get.

KBB rated my guess-timation at poor due to the interior and the fact that it's a 15 year old car. 1700 seems more than fair.

I agree, you can find running, good condition coupe's even for less than $2k - remember, salvage title doesnt mean shit if the body/frame looks good (if you dont know what to look for, then you're in trouble). I absolutely agree with EastCoastS14 in the idea that you can't buy something that's beat to shit just because you plan on fixing it later - if you can't swap out parts as soon as you get it, look for something that's in good shape.

portland to washington isn't that far. Unless it's easter washington of course. Why not get someone to drive up with you?

yea i dont think its worth it either... unless price of a 240 depends on your location, kuz i bought two 240sx for 1125 all together, both had awesome interrior and exterior jsut one had a bad tranny and the hatch only had leaking injectors and no slave cylinder...

you would be better off trying to find one that is in or around your area.

Personally, I think it's too much even for a clean one. Depends on the demand and availability in your area really. Clean is in the eye of the beer-holder.

Hehehehehe ya but you know your not the average person. To the thread started, you can try using KBB as a bargaining position, it will on someone who is not that wise to whats going on with these cars. If you get someone that is they will just laugh at you.

People I don't care what you say you think the cars are worth or what you got yours for! Fact is right now these cars do and are selling for above KBB plain and simple. They are in high demand and they do sell.

I just love when it when some of you post about the killer deal you got , with you knowing full well its not the normal. You all just love misleading noobs into thinking they are going to find a smoking deal on a car when nine times out of ten they won't.
End of story!!

find a respectable mechanic in the area. have him inspec it before hand.

a good way to find a mechanic would be to find a local nissan forum for that area.

dont ask him to find a mechanic unless you trust him
