Cant make up my mind.  here are the stats on both:

Toshiba PDR-3310 (http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/pc/pc_prodDetail.jsp?comm=ST&plin=Digital%20Cameras&pfam=Cameras&poid=211727&Adoid=140219)

Canon Powershot A40 (http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/a40-30/index.html)

Canon will cost me about $350 after i get a 64mb compact flash card and computer adapter for the card.  Toshiba is $400 with a 64 mb SD card, but the computer adaptor is too expensive so i will buy one in the US.  So experts, which one?

i would go with the toshiba one...but why spend that much...jus go on ubid.com and get one for less than half the price...that is if u dont mind factory refurbished goods...but to me i would rather save that money and use it for my car...

I personally like the sony ones. I've got a DSC-s75. You could probably get one of them for about that price now since they are not the most recent model anymore

I would go with the Toshiba. I got a Sony 505 something but I am also getting the new Logitech Pocket Camera soon enough. Its 9mm thick and is 1.3 mega pixels. Pretty good for every day photos, and its only 130$ <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I have a Canon S30 and love it. &nbsp;I'm a Canon junkie. &nbsp;Buy the Canon. &nbsp; But opinions are like assholes...everyone has one. &nbsp;Go to this site (http://www.megapixel.net) for good technical data and the most unbiased reviews. &nbsp; Then buy the one that best suits your needs. &nbsp;Personally, I think you need 3 megapixels or more to make it worth the money...

That would all depend on your needs/ cash flow. I have had 3 cameras.

First One: Kodak DX3500. Cheap POS point and shoot digicam, sucks bad.

Second One: Sony DCS F707. The best camera I have used ever. Sony adds so many neat and useful featires in there porducts. I love sony. I had to sell it to get my car. God I miss this camera so much <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Third one: Canon PowerSHot A40. Great camera. Good features, good picture quality ( if set up and used right). Has full manual mode as well.

I would find a Sony camera, but between those two I would get the A40. CF cards are cheap, SD cards aren't. So unless you plan on printing large photos, you won't need a camera with a high MP rating. Most people get MegaPixels and quality confused...........

Here are some pics I have taken.

I went with a fujifilm finepix 4800z. &nbsp;i love it already...it takes a good amount of video, looks great and has 2.2MG...good enough for my needs..

But what about if you'd like to start with a high-res large image in a digital imaging program so you can edit out a small piece of it or something? &nbsp;I frequently shoot at 1600x1200 just so I can edit later. &nbsp; If you start out at 640x480 or 1024x768 and you want to crop the image and blow it up, the quality suffers in a big way. &nbsp; My max image with my S30 is something like 2048x1536 and that's more than I'll ever need.

Most important thing: &nbsp;buy whichever camera fits your hand best. &nbsp;If you don't like holding it, you won't like shooting with it. &nbsp;

I have the Canon A20 and the only thing I wish it had was movie mode. The A40 does have that feature.. So I guess I'm wishin I had the A40. I found the A20 to be VERY versitile... I've taken pics at night at the Top of the Effiel Tower That came out Beautifully (setup in manual mode for low light) Also the Battery life kinda sucks on it. I went through 5-6 4packs of batteries in France.. in 4 days. (over 500 pictures)
Features I've found to be important:
Good Auto-white balance, and Auto-focus...
Rechargable batteries with long life
Movie Mode (some limit the amount of time you can shoot also..)
Manual Picture setup (shutter speed, etc..)
High Zoom.. mine does 3x manual, 7.5x digi which is pretty good.)
High Res (Mine has 2 megapixels, and I've never really needed more.)

You might want to check out the nikon CoolPix. &nbsp; That is a SWEET ass little camera with TOns of features.
