I just thought I would post a few pics of the splitter and airbox. A few other parts are being worked on now and in the next few weeks. The fuel system is getting a small revision, the gearbox is being switched to a T5 dogbox, wiring is being cleaned up and the rest of the underbody aero is being completed.
The splitter is made from 10mm alumalite material (for the weight it is incredibly stiff) and will be fastened by .45" titanium tubing/6mm bolts in 8 places. It goes back 4 feet from the front which ends up right behind the subframe.

Kick ass Bill. It blew my mind when I saw your car on the cover of SCC, felt like just yesterday when I was gawking at it after I brought my All Trac in. I think I'll try to stop by soon and see your new shop, I just fixed my S14. Great work again man.

You guys should scrap that and make a tunnel!! Less drag and equal(or more) downforce if done proper! I wanna do it on my next car.

I got the aluminumalite from New England Sign Supply in Woburn.
Here is a shot of the recently finished bracing for the front. You can stand on it with very minimal deflection (1/8"). Completion of the brake ducts and maybe some canards will finish off the front and then the remaining underside panel will be cut this week.

From the first time I visited DSG's webspace a while back, your S13 has been an inspiration. Seriously, it is simply astounding how far some folks are willing/able to take thier cars in the pursuit of perfection.

Just a few updates.
The fuel system has been modified a little bit with two LP pumps and two HP pumps. The surge tank has been increased in size and baffled. The wiring on the car has been cleaned up as I added a few things after the harness was originally completed the first time.
We've been really busy getting ready for the arrival of the dyno the last few weeks and I haven't really had too much time for the Maxi:(
The first event will hopefully be NHIS April 4th (I think). Matt Koestner is going to remap with 4 nozzle water injection, leaner mixture and more timing. The mapping now is very conservative, so...

02-15-2007, 11:28 AM
Hey do the classes you run in allow variable valve technology? I was just thinking of a friendly recommendation. Why not put a SR20VE head on your SR? You obviously have the fabrication skills required. It would make the car even more of a beast. The VE head flows so much better and the valvetrain can withstand a ton more rpms. Guys on SR20forum rev theirs out to 9k daily. You have to use a FWD front cover, a VET CAS, and remote mount the VVL solenoids, but seems like all that would be easy for you. Maybe on the off season or something? Just my humble opinion.

02-18-2007, 09:11 PM
Thanks guys.
Mike, you should definitely come by. We are building a cell for the dyno now. Should be fully operational by this time next week.
Turbo711, maybe a good project for next winter. I've been hearing good things about the VE engines (we have a customer who rallies a SR20VE Sentra with SR16VE cams and makes very good power) There is so much to do before april now that I don't want to take on anything else. I mounted up the gearbox (bare with no internals) and am in the process of making the tubular chromoly shift linkage.

Guys on SR20forum rev theirs out to 9k daily.
if I remember right the guys with soild lifters on normal det heads rev that high as well....MBV from XAT comes to mind.
PoorMans180SX
02-19-2007, 02:37 PM
Not to jack the thread, but it won't be near as reliable with a DET. 9k isn't even trouble for a VE with springs/retainers. 10-11krpms is possible. Look up the head configurations, the VE is superior in valvetrain design and flow.

I'm kind of disappointed about the water injection. Anyway I can talk you guys into using methanol? Water does hinder detonation but still takes away some power while methanol does not take any power away at all. All you have to do is use near the same setup but eliminate all rubber in the system; not that big of a deal.

Gearbox is almost complete and I am just waiting for the clutch discs. We'll be running the car in on the dyno in a week or so if everything goes to plan (it never does so it will probably be a couple of weeks).

Contrary to popular opinion, water injection allows you to make more power. You just have to use it sparingly and tune it right. It's not to fix a detonation problem, it's to raise the detonation threshold, allowing more boost to be run.

03-22-2007, 11:01 PM
so what you just said is what I said/knew in different words...Water does take away power though. it just allows you to run more boost. But you dont understand what I mean.
on another note...How much did that tranny set you back??? Trick ass stuff. Any links to where you were able to pick it up from?

it removes heat from the combustion chamber allowing more boost because of the lesser chance of detonation. Makes the head run sigificantly cooler really helping for long runs at full throttle.

doesnt that take from the amount of fuel going into the combustion chamber aswell? taking some performance?
