i want to free up some hp on sohc ka

well im also going to be under the hood and i wanted to no what i could remove from that wired mess... with out f**king anything up... is there anything i could do under the hood that could free up some extra ponyz? with out mods though... any tips on cleaning the motor?


tomorrow i will be with my car the hole day and i am going to be installing new speakers on the door and the rear speakers on my hatch i have 2 6 1/2inch sony xlpods ready to go into the door and 5 1/2 inch pioneers at the rear. i tried today but the damn door panel would come off.... its cause that manual window crank would move... i did some research and i read on something about using a rag to removing the clip but i dont get how that works... right now im working on the right door so help me out on that side first then ill mock the left side...

im also going to be removing some door and glove box trim just because that raggidy stuff on the panel is so ugly...


anyone give me some tips on how i could get the door panel off easier?

yea for cleaning the engine just go buy some engine degreaser drive around for a bit so the engine is warm go to a high powered washer and spray some on the engine well its off of course, let it sit for a min or 2 then wash off. Repeat twice and your engine will look like new =]. Also what do u mean take off the door panel easer? its a couple screws and pull it off also i think you have wrong size speakers, the front and back speakers are 4x6.

Door pannel is easy.
It should pop out when you unscrew some bolts. ( Door handle, screw next to side mirror, and just pop that bitch out.

You can remove all your smog shit, if you dont want to deal with it.
All AIV unit. You CAN remove PS, that pump is a bit heavy hahaha.
You can take out AC, and all the piping for the ac, and condensor,

u can fit 6.5" speakers in the door panel with a custom mount. im not sure 5.5" is gonna fit in the rear thoh, i never heard of that.
for the hp just do as downshift says and remove those stuff.

yes i no the speakers at 4x6 all around just when i poppd open the rear speakers they were smaller then the fronts... yea i got the clips off the doors and the right side handle and i could see the speaker i just couldnt get to it with the window crank still on... i tried reaching in to see what was holding it together but i couldnt figure it out... ill try the rag thing tomorrow but if that doesnt work what else would work ?

and to redsuns i dont even no what that means.. im the noob so i dont understand the(AIV UNIT/FP/FSM stuff..)

MAD WIKKED PONYZZZZZZZ DAWG

Cleaning the engine is pretty easy, buy some Super Clean and go to the coin op car wash.
Put a bag over the distributor cap, then clean it.
It'll come out a lot better if you use a brush instead of just spraying on degreaser and letting it work.

i use a needle nose pliers to pull our the retaining clip that holds the window crank in. look under the crank arm and you should see it.

you dont have to pull the whole clip out of the window crank, just push down on it with a small flathead screwdriver and the whole crank handle will pop of with the clip still in the handle, to put it back on slip it on there and push down on the clip and it will lock into place again.
