i just got my SR20 in a few days ago andi noticed a few things were missing. i was wondering if you could use parts from the KA as a substitue until i get the parts for the new motor.
the missing parts are the Thermostat, water/oil sending unit gaskets [oil pan intake exhaust valve cover etc] water pump and the front and rear crank/cam seals.
thaks

List in complete spcificity what gaskets you exactly need. I'll be able to point you in the right direction.

The front and rear main seals SHOULD NOT BE BAD, hopefully. If the engine is allready in the car, it is going to be a Pain in the ASS to replace. Water/Oil sending unit? The front cover/oil pump assembly of the sr just takes RTV to seal, make sure the o ring was in the block for the oil pump (you'll see when you are in there).

The water pump can just use RTV. The "cam seal".... err, i think the "valve cover gasket"? Feel it, if it is brittle, you will probably need to replace it, if not, it should be ok with some oil rubbed along it. DONT RTV the valve cover gasket (yes i have seen that).

For the Scope of gasket replacement you plan on doing, i would suggest pulling the motor back out. SERIOUSLY. To replace the front cover/oil pump, you want the engine out, because the upper oil pan has to come out. The oil pans only requre RTV to seal as well.

Better question. WHy do you feel all these things need to be replaced? What is the history of the motor, who told you to do this? Use the RTV sparingly, nothing is grosser than orange squish all over an engine.
