first of all, just wanna say sorry if its a repost, but when i use the search button, i just get a blank screen. i tried disabling my antivirus' too, and still a blank screen. but anyways....

Im interested in new tires for my 1993 s13. same size as (15in) as the car came with, nothing fancy. The bald tires i have currently are falken ziex e512's. They were alright tires, but im wondering what else is out there from a performance stand point. I'm not well knowledgable in tires. I am wondering if any of you have experience with my tires as well as others, and how you would compare them. Im not looking for the most expensive hi-performance tires, but i want something that gives me a pretty good BAng for my buck ! =D thanks.

BFGoodrich g-Force Sports are good tires. You might want to include what you are using these tires for. Street needs differ from track needs.

g-Force Sport or KDW are very nice in the rain. I'm a fan of BFG though. I'm sure some others will chime in with some other brands.

i thought the G-Force suck in the rain?

^^ which g-force are you talking about?

because the KDW's do not suck in the rain, the "w" in "KDW" actually stands for wet.

One of the sponsors has (or had) a 5% off deal for zilvia members. Check for FRSport.com.

I just picked up a set of 4 (17s) for ~350 shipped. Honestly not expecting great things, but that's cheaper than anything else :) Plus they seem to review well, especially the bang for the buck factor.

Hankook RS2.

Can be had for cheap, good bang for buck. Awesome all around tires. Handle rain just fine-take it from a seattlite.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's are made of WIN

Came in first in Dec05 issue of Car and Driver for tire shootout, which included Pirelli, Advan Neova's, Michelin Pilots, Potenzas

I had them on my old car, and they litterally saved my life once. GREAT dry grip, EXTREMELY good wet grip.

You can read up about them on Tirerack.

I'm running on Advan Neova's right now, they're insane on dry.

I had Nitto 450S. THEY SUCK. Absolutely useless. I'll never buy Nitto again.

My next set will be either the Goodyears again, or ADVAN Sport, or the Neova's again.

if you dont care about tread wear you should get the federal ss595 rs, i heard they were as good if not better then the rt615, and surely better in the rain.

Kumho Ecsta MX are excellent for daily driving duties. great grip, dry or wet, and surprisingly good tread life. good price for the performance too.

RT-615 and Kumho MX are very reasonably priced but way too aggressive for someone that'll never track the car.

Just get some Federals or *new* all seasons and enjoy the streets.

whats the stock wheel/tire size? im i correct to assume its 205/60/r15? i just want to make sure that when i get new tires, that it doesn't make my speedometer read wrong. I dont wanna think im going 30, but im really going 15, ya know? haha, but anyways, anyone know?

Just got off the phone with a representative of fr sports (i believe his name was jung?) and he was very helpful. told me that the stock size wheels were 205/55/r15 and made suggestions on other tires i can get. i asked for an estimate of four 535's on pickup, and he gave me $240. that price is with tax. so all in all, fr sports gets a thumbs up in my book, and 535's get a big "ok" for being light on the wallet.

I found those damn things to be near deadly on an Evo 9 in the rain.

I wouldn't recommend near-R-compound tires for street use.
You want something that will give you tread life in addition to good traction and cornering.
Unfortunatly, most of the tires I remeber being great as street tires have been discontinued. FM901, ST115, ES100, etc.
The FM901 by Dunlop was great on the street, but was replaced by the Direzza, which tends to overheat and lose grip for spirited street driving. I was able to get one of the last sets of 901s for my Evo, and I'm glad I did.

The Falken FK's are nice on the street, give good grip, and are comfortable.

But I'd go with Hankook. They are inexpensive, give great grip, and last long.
I have some Ventus on the front of my S13, and they have survived track and canyon use, with no noticable wear. I thought they would be crappy, but Hankook has really improved in the last couple years.

how about KDWs?

I was thinking about those, the car will be making over 500 hp, so I guess it doesnt matter whats back there. Falken 615? I heard about overheating issues.

But im going to be aiming for time attack style, and its only a weekend car.

Summer I am aiming for 700.

So...

something stickier in summer.

500hp, why get some pussy shit like KDW's? Get some real tires RE-01 for the track or something
