I know there is a lot of threads on this topic but they don't exactly answer the question(s) I am looking for.

I have a sr20det s13 blacktop w/ a FMIC. Here goes:

1. Which is better, recirc or atmospheric discharge
2. which brand has better performance
3. which has lower cost to performace "bang for my buck"
4. Are there some OEM (nissan, toy, mitsi,or american) bov's that will work
5. Does anyone have one for sale

Thanks

I have heard that the HKS SSQV works real well, thats what I plan on getting anyways.
Get a recirculation kit for it, that way all that boost that is already built up will still be in your charge, and you wont have to rebuild it all back up. Ive heard even with a recirc kit, the BOV is still about 90% as loud as it is when it vented to the atmo.
Pretty sure nissan doesnt have one....

i have the ssqv and it works awsome cannot leek because it is a pull type bov. i hade it venting sounds great. then i recirked it now you canot here it at all. super quiet. its awsome. if you want to spend a little extra get the Synapse Synchronic Blow-Off valve. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/6c1bbafe-cdc3-43e9-a3c9-983f0150f005.htm

What I meant on #3 was: sometimes expensive doesn't mean its the best performing and sometimes the less expensive ones also make them cheaply built.

#5-what is a turboXL RFL?

I am finding more people are using the greddy. but what are the others compared to greddy

I guess what I am really looking for is a comparison btween each of the BOVs with there performace, Advantages/disadvantages, pros/cons etc in a listed format. Sorry I still a newbie to all of this.

i have an HKS ssq and my SR was stalling out a lot got a recirc fitting for like $9 should solve the problem but HKS is quality stuff so i recommend HKS and recirc expensive BOV but worth it in my opinion

The HKS is what I would recommend to folks who aren't running a lot of power, and if they are, the Tial is the way to go.

However, that Synapse Synchronic BOV was pretty sweet.

Here is another question.

Has anyone had any experiece with generic BOVs?

I have seen ones that "look like" HKS or Greddy. They are inexpensive. $20-60.
I am needing something temporary until I can afford the real thing. Since I am on a tight budget and have already ready spent all of it.

Hence the model name RFL, which stands for "REAL FUCKIN LOUD"

My buddy has one on his STI and they couldn't have been more right, that sob is LOUD!

as for bov, there are pull types and push,

all the answers should come up in a search

you can also bypass all of them and not have a bov at all,
search on that too

For what it's worth I could hear my SSQV quite loudly even when recirc'd at 12psi on a T25.

go with the hks. it's proven it's worth (cost and performance), and it can easily be recirculated. and please, do recirculate it. don't cheap out on ebay bov. you'll just kick yourself in the ass later for not getting the real one to beginning with. oh, the hks is a pull type bov, which means under lots of pressure, it won't leak. push type bov's have a spring that in time will age and allow leakage (although i've never actually seen one leak, just stories from other people). hks FTW, bro!

Thats pretty fucking trashy brah.

Only BOV I've heard on a T25 that doesn't sound like dick slapping a whistle is the Sard R2D2.

Compressor Surge > * though.

My TiAL bov on my s13 black top with fmic setup has no problems running not recirculated...Never dies, doesnt leak at idle and hey... it looks pretty cool :-P lol. only problem is that the bov opens late, and i get compressor surge until it opens... I think this is a vacuum wiring problem though...

TiAL bov is kinda expensive but it performs how I want so the extra 100$ is no big deal...

very true, thats the option I went for, and the R2D2 is pretty reasonably priced.

an ebay bov works.. it usually just isn't as loud as the real thing... and they will also break easier than the real ones.... but yea - it should last you a few months... possibly longer - depending on how often u boost.

uhh, ebay bovs dont do their job. my friend bought 2 fake bovs and they both didnt open as much as one real bov does. save your money.

I am needing something temporary until I can afford the real thing. Since I am on a tight budget and have already ready spent all of it.

We've put them on a couple in-house cars here, and found they sometimes have problems. Had to JB-weld the hose barb on one of them so it wouldn't fall out. Often they show obvious signs of cost-cutting, such as leaking under vacuum or using second rate die-casting where HKS would use billet aluminum.

You get what you pay for here... they function, and look like they should be more effective than some junkyard choices. But the quality really isn't up to par with the brand-name stuff, and it shows.

I had it mounted on the hot pipe with not even an inch of tube going into the intake. Just a thin rubber 90* right into the intake pipe.
