well, i'm looking to put a pair of subs in my hatch, as a pair of 4x6's and a pair of 5.25's just doesn't provide enough punch. but, i'm looking to go the route of the cheap bastard- yep, i'm gonna build my own box. i built a sealed box for my last car, but this time i want to build a bandpass box with a plexiglass window and all... i've got a couple sheets of 1/2" plywood sitting around, and the tools needed to do it. but, i need some good bandpass box plans. anybody have bandpass plans for a pair of 12's?
the car came with a Rockford sub wire kit installed, so i'm good there. i'm gonna shop aorund for subs and an amp... just don't want to spend 200+ bucks for something i can build.

ALSO... does anyone know how to bypass those little crap amps for the front speakers in the doors?

First of all, if you are making a box, don't use plywood.  Go buy some 3/4" MDF.  It's heavier, but it makes for a much nicer sound, and will also make your sub hit a little harder.  Go with a sealed box also, it will give you much better SQ.

I have an s14 and to bypass the amps, I just wired my four-channel amp up, and tapped into the factory harness at the factory amps.  Of course, you should unplug the harness from the factory amps =)  Much easier, and when you want to sell the car, it's easy as shit to just unplug your stuff, and plug in the old stuff.

wouldn't putting subs in that deck rattle like a bitch, though? i guess if it was properly secured it'd be ok, but...
