What do you guys/girls think is a good set up for S14(b, kouki, whatever....its a 97)?
17x8 front 17x9 rear

17x8 all around

18x8 front 18x9 rear

18x8 all around

The x9 is just for cosmetics, but i've seen it a few times, and i wanted to know what you thought...is x9 even an optimal width? Thanks

check this little blurb (http://integra.vtec.net/wheels/rotation.html) out - thanks to DSC for posting the link a while back

due to sheer weight and gear reduction of larger wheels/tires, a 16 diameter seems to be, more or less, the most widely accepted (around here) compromise between aesthetics and performance

i personally live in an area in which 17+ is unacceptable due to poor road conditions meaning bent/broken rims and a harsh ride
the widths seem pretty widely used, but i would stay away from keeping the front and rear too unbalanced

What type of driving are you primarily going to be doing...  Street?

Do you care more about looks or performance?

How much money do you want to spend on wheels/tires?

Do you care if you'll be able to rotate them?

Do you have a favorite brand/model of tire that you'll want to buy and may not fit on some of your choices?

There are a lot of questions you'll have to ask yourself... when it get's right down to it, this is really a personal decision with no right answer.

If you use 17x8 front 17x9 rear you will have horrible understeer. Generally larder width rear tires are reserved for cars with a large amount of power, when then need to have a understeer setup to control it...best example would be the z32, n/a comes with 16x7.5 front and rear and the TT model comes with 16x7.5 front and I think 16x8.5 rear. Then give it an understeer setup (less contact patch up front, so the front loses traction before the rear) to compensate for the extra power.

I don't think I would use a tire larger than 225 front and rear on a stock (engine) 240sx...and I/H/E and chip isn't enough power to justify 225 front 245 rear <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

If your going for looks get a good set of like 18x8's all around, if your going for performance I'd get 16x7-8.

O ok. Thanks guys

to yosho: I mainly want something in the middle....a little performance and a little show. Its a daily driver for right now.

I guess its more looks right now. I dont like the way the stock wheels look...they seem to narrow. To me it seems like they're too far from the fender. Its just my opinion. Once again, thanks for the help guys.
