Venting about Honda...

Anyway.. I finnished talking to my friend on aim who is viet and drives a v6 legend (yeah i know its acura). It seems he got in a arguement with this guy who called him a rice boy (along with several other names) saying that hondas suck and my friend was defending "hondas pride". and now he wants to know if i have his back if something happens. And of course i do even if he is a huge ricer.  

What im trying to say is why do people think they have something to prove to honda??? whether its that honda sucks and im gonna sup up my car to prove i can beat them all or people defending them saying that honda is the best company and im gonna sup up a civic to show my pride. Honda Honda Honda thats all i hear when im around my import friends and thats all i hear when im around my domestic friends. Even on this freakin board. As soon as someone mentions..."honda" everyone automaticly jumps up and a shiver goes down there back. And god forbid someone here says i dont like hondas. within the hour 20 post will go up defending honda, and this is a nissan forum! Why the hell is honda that big of a deal to people? It doesnt mean anything, it doesnt stand for anything. Its just a car company. Same as nissan, same as toyota. I never drove a honda in my life. I like nissan and dsms, but that doesnt mean as soon as someone says nissan sucks i take it to heart and feel some kind of bound between nissan and my heritege, and defend nissan to the death.

i dont think it is when people say they hate hondas, but when they say WHY they hate hondas. &nbsp;many flame wars have come about because of a statement similair to this &nbsp;"all honda drivers are ricers". its just a stupid stereotype that pisses people off. &nbsp;no one appreciates a gross overstatement about a person due to what they drive. &nbsp;personally, i drive a nissan and a honda, and if some one says nissan sucks, or honda sucks, oh &nbsp;well. &nbsp;i dont really care what they think because they obviously dont know enough about either cars to be running their mouth, its definetley not worth getting into a fight over. thats just my.02, good luck &nbsp; matt

Second, I think you'll find that the majority of people here hate Hondas, for the simple fact that Hondas are THE biggest selling manufacturer of cars to people 16-23. ...that being said, what age group do most ricers fit into? There ya go. It's mostly about demographics more than Hondas rule or Hondas suck. They're dependable grocery getters and luxary cars (minus the ITR, S2k, and NSX). Most kids buy one because a few year old civic can be had cheap, and that's what their friends have. Or mommy and daddy get him/her a vehicle that they know will be dependable.

There are lots of other ricey cars too, sentras, sephias, sunfires, cavaliers, neons, etc etc. We've long established that it's the person that creates a ricey car, not the car. You think the poor civic that sparks on speedbumps cuz his 17 year old owner cut the spring to lower it enjoys it's lifestyle? hell No.

It also just happens that the people on this board that defend hondas, just also happen to be some of the most outspoken posters in general <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> (that's a compliment btw guys, so back-a-da-fuk-up ;p hehee )

It's just demographics.

one of my best friends drives a CivicSI...and I love that car....not as much as my 240 of course...but if the CivicSI was RWD...I'd trade him. &nbsp;with that said...

Getting into fights over car arguements is just plain stupid. &nbsp;I tell my friends all the time, I'll help you out if you if you can't walk away...but I mean, really, so what if someone's dogging your car...does it really hurt your pride that much?

and I'm not calling you or your friends stupid...just fighting for reasons like that.

The way I see it, Hondas are good little cars. &nbsp;Best? Who cares, but good. &nbsp;In any event, they do well on the streets (and even on the track - I've never seen a Nissan do as well in Speedvision World Challenge race as Hondas). &nbsp;Second, a real enthusiast likes all cars that aren't crap, and Hondas aren't crap.

So when you dis Honda, you are a) usually wrong; and b) not an enthusiast. &nbsp;I will flame either. &nbsp;I've got nothing wrong with pride, but I hate to see disrespect!

FWIW, I've flammed people trash talking Miatas, Celicas, and F-bodies here too. &nbsp;It just seems the kids who don't like Honda have a little more of a chip on their shoulder and need it a little worse.

Ok, i guess ill pit my .02 in hera since i use to drive a honda and still do sometime jus not as much. I dont hate hondas jus mainly the lower class ones. ITR, s2ks, and NSX i like jus b/c 2 out of those 3 are MR and FR. Both pretty bad ass cars IMO, but face hondas can be nice but when ur town or city is infected by the rice bug. Like me u get sick of seeing the same car jus wid a different kit or the same kit. This one kid i noe has a del sol wid a B18c1 in it he doesnt knoe how to drive so he got in a few fender benders. 1st one wasnts his fault the 2nd one was jus pure stupidity of his part. But hondas are commuter cars that goes and takes kids to school and get some groceries and that is bout it. I jus dont like them anymore cuz its FWD and its ppl is playing them out like its going out of style. So that is why i switch to nissan jus to be different and not follow the trend that is plaguing everyone in the US. Plus one of my friends Bf tells me if it took nrcooled 14psi to beat a 32z, i am not sure if it was TT or NA. He said that was pathetic cuz his gf had an all motor hatch and beaten a 32zTT... Also claimed a sr20det is slow... i guess he hasnt came across civickillastyle240 yet. He is in ur area.. jonathan. I think springfield or fairfax... he is filipino. dunno what he drives. To me i took it as an insult cuz he doesnt obvisliously know what he is talken about. Maybe sr20 bone stock is a lil slow i dunno but when u pushing over 400 that is not slow. Also those guys who has a ka24det pushing 22psi and greasers sr20 pushing 21psi... He asked me what was the times i said i dunno and told me i was bullshieting him. I just think that current honda owners, or people who have owned a car that bares the H logo are to quick to defend the company. As soon as someone says something about the company they feel like that person has just dis their lifestyle, family, and the whole import scene. I think they should just chill out sometime.

I don't actually dislike hondas. I dislike the ricers that often drive them. Not only are they dependable but they are pretty quick, huge aftermarket, and reasonably cheap... Shit if it weren't for RWD being so fun to drive then my next car would probably be a Honda after I sell this POS...(Just kidding, its not a POS... BUY IT! [shameless plug]) hell if a robot got out of a decked out civic I might give him props.... But that's a robot.... A person on the other hand who has the ability to act like an ass or think they are superb while lacking the knowledge of others &nbsp;cars (example owners of 4 cyl Automatic Accord LX's with clear washer nozzles and a pace setter muffler that consider themselve's to be Vin Deisel).... most people enjoy fast, good handling cars, with performance potential. &nbsp;its simple. &nbsp;and most dont care if that car is a nissan, honda, daewoo badge. hell, id buy hyundai(spelt incorectly, sorry) if it was pushin 250 to the wheels. &nbsp;most ( i assume) people here are performance oriented, and though they have felt a call to the 240(as have i), would be interested in any vehicle to satisfy that need for performance

i like honda...seriously, if you get past the basterdized american perspective on them and go back to the pure japanese roots, honda has always been developing great quality,dependable and long lasting cars. Their racing heritage in japan is deep and they have always been performance orientated. My Friend has a little civic hatchback and its a great driving car, even tho half the country has one too. Still, hondas are great cars, I like the 5th gen prelude the most...

Yknow, it took me forever to find a car after my previous car (mazda 323 87'<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>. I did the dealer auction in Milton, I did a couple public auctions, I looked everywhere for a car I wanted. I drove EVERYTHING underneath the sun. Ranging from Cavaliers to Boxsters. From a personal standpoint, I can't stand the feel of a domestic, so I knew I wanted an import. I drove several hondas, and they do have a good feel. But when I drove a 240 with rwd, I was giddy. Fwd cars don't have a tendency to shove you in the back of the seat, but the 240 did. For defending people's cars, just say "I love what I drive". If they want to rice it up, to fit into the crowd its their choice. I know too many people that feel they have to rice it up, just to impress their friends. Honda's just happen to the most popular to rice out, due to the aftermarket. Just don't say "rice" when the car is clean. I hate that. "He's got rims, rice!"

Someone mentioned cheap on insurance... aint no' mo'. They have a tendency to get stolen like a tv in Harlem. (I know, I'm going to hell) &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sigh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':rolleyes:'>

Well, from the Honda standpoint, its because we have no torque. &nbsp;The 240 has hella torque. &nbsp;I rode in my friends modded FWD Talon turbo and it shoves ya back too.
