I just traded my s13 for a s14 and I was aware of these problems when I bought traded for the s14. I searched but the search function isn't working.

For reference the car is a 95 se. Power everything.

First problem, I haven't checked or done tests on anything but the fuel gauge doesn't work. It just sits there under the 'E' and never moves. And help on where to start? The pervious owner said he tried to work on it but could never get it working. He said he checked wires, fuel pump (though didn't replace it) and maybe a couple other things. I was thinking maybe it the actually gauge in the cluster? Just a thought. Any help would be awesome.

Second, the cruise isn't working. You push the cruise thingy and it lights up but then go to set it and it never sets and the light never turns on in the cluster (if there is one there?). Any help?

Fuel gauge is either a bad or loose float in the tank, or the gauge. Easy way to check is to pull the cluster and ground the gauge lead, if it moves up to 'F' then the gauge is good. Pull the float/sender unit and make sure it's secure, if so then replace it.

Cruise could be numerous things, from a dead vacuum pump to a bad control unit, to a bad clutch or brake switch. Get the FSM out and start the troubleshooting procedure.

Could a vacuum not hooked up cause the Cruise not to work?

I forgot where all the vacuum lines go but underneath the TB there is like 4 iirc that come out from under there. I was looking and I saw a vacuum line that was cut. It probably isn't helping things thats forsure but I dont know if thats whats causing the cruise not to work.

Same thing like mine.

After a DD just stopped working, sat at E.

Now it sits permanently at quarter tank.

Nope, the vacuum pump for the cruise is powered electronically, not off the engine.

Ok well thats good info to know. I've done tons of work on a s13 and know it inside and out...litterly. But now I have a s14 and although it not majorly different they do have a couple differences. Also my s13 didn't have cruise so I haven't worked much with cruise on 240's.
