well i mean like detachable face or something. thats wat i meant. and alarms wont stop somebody from breaking a window and taking an aftermarket radio in less than a minute

GPS signal is free.

The Navi DVD is what cost money, unless you can burn it off someone.

I dont really know too much about in car entertainment, but I have never heard of an indash/double din that has a removeable face. I would have thought that would be impossible.

did you search for the actual product on the pioneer site?

edit:
I took a gander, and judging from the face design, it isnt removable, but it could always have some kind of way to do it knowing pioneer, but i couldnt find a definitive answer

i live in nyc. i park in the street. like i said i want to know if it does so i can start saving up and buy it, if it doesnt then i wont buy it for the simple fact that i dont want to lose 1000 bux plus the cost of a window

you cant remove the face, but you can make a cover for it, and hope no one sees it while you're driving.

The BEST theft deterent would be an alarm combined with backstrapping the deck to the dash somewhere to keep it from getting ripped out in under a minute. They can unscrew the brackets and pull all they want but as long as its screwed into something from the back its gonna next to impossible to pull it out with the alarm going off. Make the thing as hard to remove as possible

You look at the AVIC-S1? It's the portable version.

Buddy of mine had a deck that needed a security cd to unlock it if the power was cut. So if someone stole it and the power was cut in the process as it would be, you couldn't use it without the security cd. Can't remember what brand it was, maybe Alpine, not sure. Kind of seems pointless as you still lose your deck, but interesting concept nonetheless.
