ok.........i've been having a problem with the car for quite sometime now, here's the situation.

1) the car has serious problems starting, but if i keep the key in the "start" position and pump the throttle it'll always get going eventually.

2) once the car is started, it doesn't idle worth shit. it'll fluctuate between 200rpm and 1000rpm. sometimes revving itself up, sometimes maintaining engine speed.

3) throttle response at idle is crap. there is probably a .25-.5 sec delay in the time i hit the throttle and the time the engine actually revvs. throttle response higher in the rev range is normal.

4) sometimes, when putting the car in neutral to make a turn, it will actually stall out.

the technician that worked on my transmission said i had a secondary misfire, and that i needed the usual cap rotor and wires. but he wasn't sure that that was the extent of the problem. well, i replaced them tonight, and the car still has the same tendencies. i know i won't get many replies on this, but any help is appreciated.

Well, the best/cheapest thing you can do:

1.  Change spark plugs.  I use NGK gapped to 0.044.
2.  Check spark plug wires.  If you need to replace, go NGK.
3.  Clean throttle body.
4.  Replace fuel filter.  Go with a 300ZX one if you want
Optional:  Have fuel injectors professionally cleaned.  I use RC Engineering on all my cars (www.rceng.com).  Well worth it.

HTH.

i already changed the wires.....i doubt it's the plugs. if the solution was that simple, i think the tech would've suggested it. but i'll take a look at them tomorrow. i also asked about the filter thing...tech said no possible way that was the problem.

have you ohmed out your injectors travis? also you should check your fuel pressure. your pump could be bad where its not holding enough pressure in order to start. does your car have any codes?

from him saying secondary misfire was he referring to cylinder #2?

and as far as the throttle response did you ever tighten your throttle cable? i had the same problem when i first bought my car i just tightened the cable and viola.

also first start by checking your timing and base idle. then you can probably move to other stuff like fuel pressure see if your coolant sensor is working properly check your maf ground and etc etc. if you need more tips i'd be glad to help out. if i dont know something i can ask the more seasoned techs at work. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

You may also want to check out you Fast Idle Control Valve.. and the Idle Air adjustment valve. &nbsp;I would try cleaning the intake sytem, and emmissions system stuff before anything else.
