it's a nissan, so it's pretty strong to start with. i think most of nissan's cranks are forged to begin with. i think the 97-98's have forged pistons. transmissions are plenty strong. basically, until you start pushin out 250+ hp, i doubt you have much to worry about.

my 240 has 178,000 miles on the original engine, and it runs smoother than my Lebaron when it had 90,000... so you really don't have to worry about mileage as much as you would with any domestic...

I spoke with a 240 tuning specialist and he said the stock internals on the KA are strong enough to hold up to 500 HP. He says the internals are beefy as the rods are like Hugely thick as well as forged.

I'll believe it when I see someone lay down 500hp to the wheels with stock internals...and run it at that setting for a month w/out killing the engine and/or tranny. Don't try to push more than 300hp w/out having money for new internals and can deal with downtime. Sure, I've seen people push 350+ on stock KA internals but it's definately not reliable. To quote as well as I can remember "There isn't a single time I take my engine up near redline without wondering if it's going to pop"
Under nearly stock power, they seem to good good for 200,000mi or so...I've never heard of one going longer but it doesn't mean they can't.
