everybody on here likes to preach wheel weights, but nobody ever weighs the tires for some reason, which dosent make much sense. i was wondering what everybodys wheel/tire weights are. put your shit on a bathroom scale next time you change a tire

18x10 -3.......235/40 nexen....n3000.......................49 pounds.........full tread
18x13 -7.......295/30 pirelli.....p zero assymetrico.......49 pounds........3/4 tread

these tires suck i want to change to 245/35 285/30 fk452s, im broke, haha

sidenote - people might say.... "but charles, arent all same sized tires the same weight?" and what you have to know is that some tires of exact same specs weigh up to 4-5 pounds less than others....

so the next time someone bitches about a wheel being 3 more L-mother-fucking-B's less than another, they should also look at the tires they are jockin' ... ya herd?

Very interesting, I've think about same things those days.
Just received equips and on there's 225/40/18 nexen on 18x10-3 and potenza re01 225/40/18 on 18x9-7, I've not weigh them but the nexen with 10" wheels seem to be lot light than the potenza on the 9" !! I've alco a new set of marangoni 225/40/18 on my gram light 9" and they seem to be lot lot heavy!!shitty tyres for sure..

brigdestone tires are heavy. i almost got some potenza tires. later i found out they were run-flat tires. so they were heavy as hell!! the only good thing about them was the stiff sidewall

Good thread. I think everyone is so concerned about saving that extra weight on the rim. But they need to make sure that they a going with a solid but light tire. I would like to see more tire weights. Thanks

sometimes the benefits of more grip outweighs the downsides of a heavier tire. the falken azenis is a heavy tire but it hasn't stopped them from being a popular tire for performance. that they're fairly cheap helps with that too.

there is that huge wheel weight thread if you search wheel weights. of course some of its not accurate/doesnt have EVERY wheel obviously, but its a good start.

tire weight can actually be more important than wheel weight, as its further out from the hub, and takes more energy to move. not many people consider this but its something quite a few racers have talked about over on the Rx7 forums. a good thing to consider if you really want to go all out. I havent taken my wheels off for a while NS-01s but without ST115s they were about 21-22 lbs. with ST115s theyre pretty damn heavy.

17 x 9.5 +18mm RPF1 with 235/40/17 FK452.... ~40LBS

IIRC I weighed the wheels alone at ~17LBS

Interesting...

I like this. Imma have to check in on that once I have the bridgestones installed on the rears 18 x 10 -20 offset Gram Light 57 Pro Volks.

1st post viceroy installed I can cope with.

I bet my front weight about the same as your fronts only difference is I'm 18 x 9 not 10 @ -7 offset. .. .running nexan same model, I'm diggin' NeXaN for street running. very good tread for even wearout thru multiple road conditions. especially rain.

Now that I think about it, I only weighed the 17 x 10 +18mm without tires. Thats what was ~17LBS. BTW, I used the ~ for a reason. Light ass 17 x 9.5's? Ya... some of the lightest available I'd think.

Just so you guys know. Tire weight is usually readily available from the tire manufacturers. Much more so than wheels weight. Tire rack has weights listed for all the tires and if there not on there, you can usually find them on the manufacturer's website with all the other tire specs. So before everyone goes out and dismounts their tires just to find out how much they weigh, just take a look around and you'll probably be able to find it.

And yes, the RPF1's are a very light wheel, especially for the price. There are lighter wheels, but you do end up paying more for it. I plan on picking up a set of 18x10.5 RPF1's when there's a little more free money around. I think the weight of them is actually on the Enkei site, I know i've seen on it one of the sites, it might the JP site that has it listed.

every time ive checked a wheel weight or a tire weight on the internet its always way off from actual scaled weight

Wiisass
01-12-2007, 01:13 PM
really? What's way off, like 1lb? or 3lbs? or more? I'm just curious. I could see them being a little different due to resolution on the scales and such and any extra compounds or debris on the tire itself. But if they're really off, then I don't know. I mean go with the weight you actually measure, but I would expect them to be somewhat similar.

well i know that wheel weights.net thing says a te37 mag is like 12 pounds in 18x10 or something retarded like that, the one logan scaled was like 19 pounds iirc? various things like that that ive noticed over the years. i dont believe wheel weights unless i see it on my scale. too much room for error in internet retardedry. haha

I agree with you there. I still think the manufacturer published weights are still a good guide when comparing tires.
