:aw: my buddy has a welder that can weld the diff for $40. i'm considering it because my broke ass cant afford a lsd. i dont know much about this set up, so maybe you can help enlighten me on this. what are the pro's and con's of a welded differencial? should i do this or save my chips?

thanx, ronnie. :2f2f:

This is probably the most overdiscussed topic on these boards.

I will state this only to possible save your life.

There is a high chance that a bead of weld can break from your diff and lodge it's self between your ring and pinion gear.

If that happends on the freeway or anywhere, it's like randomly pulling up on the ebrake. Would you want your rear end to lock up on you at 65mph?

As said prior there are MANY weld diff threads. Some go on for pages.

Search for them. Contact Blu808 (Luke) He can weld your diff. No worry about his falling apart.

just have a professional welder do it...dont fuck around with something so important....

most pros will do it for 40-80 bucks.

If you have not really read up on this one. Do so. The wheels will skip at low speeds. It gets annoying but maybe you are hardcore like that. I searched the online junkyards and found my j30 pumpkin for 110 shipped. Just kicking it out there before you make your final decision.

Yeah viscous sucks if you plan to drift. I'd say weld it as long as you get a guy who knows what hes been doing. I've had welded on my daily for almost a year now.

240street/gotta240 Most girls will be embarrassed to ride in a 240 in the first place. When I use to drive my car around, all the girls that rode in it loved the ride.

The only reason you get chirping is if you run cheap tires.

You will get close to the same effects if you have a 2way.

Do your research guys...

Why is this thread still alive?
