Why does my steering wheel vibrate when it reaches about 40mph?

Does it continue to get worse the faster you go?

I'f you mean shake back and forth, check for balance and/or get an alignment. I had 3 worn tires that failed the penny test (not bald though) and one that passed with flying colors. So I got new tires and alignment, and no problems since. BTW mine use to do it a 50- 65 mph...usual expressway speeds.

Wow. We've reached a new level of stupidity.

1) Improper tire/wheel balance
2) improper alignment
3) Bent/damaged suspension component
4) Warped brake rotor(s)
5) Loose lug nut(s)

I'm amazed someone with a brain would ask this, even a 16yr old girl driving their dad's SUV would know this shit.

My friends s14 had the same problem when he put on a exhaust header. I guess the header was rubbing the stearing column and was shaking the shit out of it. so we bent the header alittle to clear the stearing column. gl.
