Ok I'm at about 58k and I was told by a guy at nissan that you should get your timing chain replaced at 60k. I asked him how much it would cost and he told me they can do it for $275. I was expecting like $500.
Should I get it replaced at 60k?

don't think you have to replace a timing chain for at
least 100k. I've seen 240s w 122k 140k with the same
timing chain.

The timing chain on 240's isn't actually considered a "Wear item" by nissan. So there is no recommended change interval. But if it starts to make noise have it checked out. Its probably the chain guides or tensioners if it starts making noise. They will just replace the whole thing though. For more info check this out..

I wouldn't even bother thinking about it until 100,000 unless it starts making noise.

On the other hand - that price is about 1/3 of what I understand the change to cost... something doesn't add up?
But I do agree that you don't change it until it makes noise.
