ok... here's wha happend.  when i bought my car, it wasn't the factory color, 'cause the dealer repainted it 3 days before i bought it.

afte my accident in the mountains, i got a silvia front end and i gave it to my body shop, they shot the paint according to the paint code.  now, they are two colors, but similar color.  and the paint shop agreed when they paint my rear bumper (some guy rear ended me a long time ago, and the insurance finally came through), they will match the color and repaint the front for me.

so last wednesday, i sent my car in, they said it's going to take 2 days to take the rear bumper into the bumper shop, and 2 days to paint it.  well yeasterday (tuesday) i gave 'em a call, they said, it'll be done today (wendsday), so i called today (wednsday) they said they couldn't match the paint, so they went ahead and painted the whole side of the car as well...  the thing is, they didn't paint the roof, or the trunk... and i can pick it up tomorrow, (thursday)

they painted it a color between the factory color and my car's color...  and they used a "blend" method or somthing, that as they approach the top, they start to spray less and less, and than they spray clear coat.  they said it'll look fine, but anyone know how it'll turn out?

It should look fine.

When I had my Civic Si repainted after dent removal, the bodyshop couldn't quite match my factory paint (that Electron Blue Pearl color) because each of those cars seem to have a small difference in the shade of blue.  Mine was a bit lighter/grayer than others.  They had to paint the rear quarter in Honda B92 (E.B.P.) paint and then fade it into the rest of the car by spraying my door, trunk, bumper, etc.

I was kind of sceptical because I'm always sceptical of shiesty bodyshop work (and they're all shiesty to a degree), but to my suprise...I couldn't even tell it had been painted.

So, as long as they do a quality job, you shouldn't even be able to notice the color difference because of the large distance between different 'solid' colors.  The fade between colors will distract the eye.  Don't worry about it.

That signature pic is still retarded... just so you know &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> &nbsp;lol

Sounds like they're doing some crazy Photoshop-style work on your car, lol.

it should def look alright as long as the color they are "blending" is reasonably close , it is a common technic in painting , it will look vertually the same when done , it's basically using an optical illusion to fool you and everyone else into thinking it's all the same color , so don't worry , they are doing the right thing
