View Full Version : BuddyClub Spec II Silencer Issue

So i put my silencer in my exhaust today, but i had to hammer it in (I used a soft rubber mallet). The issue...? Has anyone else had a really tight silencer like this? My concern is getting it out, what should i use to get it out?
I was thinking of taking off the exhaust and hammering it back out using a long pole, but a straight pole can't make it around the bends.

hahah!
My silecner shot itself out of my spec II on the freeway when the bolt "auto loosened itself"
i love that exhaust

My silencer rattled from being so loose in the Spec II, then fell out from auto loosening and some jackass stole it while I turned around to pick it up.
ASpec B II muffler, tight as hell silencer. I think ASpec sells a tool for silencer removal, its kind of a rigid coat hanger, a very long pole with a hook at the end, you hook around the back of the silencer and tug on it. You can probably fasten yourself one out of some form of metal or something.
Its just a long pole with a hook at the end. Or you can do what I do and remove it with pliers on the inside of the silencer lip and tug.

Mine is kind of loose too.
I'm sure it will just fall out one day.
oh well.

you may have accidentally dented the tip out of round. those exhausts are freaking AWESOME! i have them on my car, have a bunch of them in stock here at the shop too they sell fast and people are always psyched about them. they sound too good to put a silencer in hahaha.

Nah, I wanna hear one on a redtop SR20 lol. I can hear it in the google video one, but I wanted a clip from someone where I would know what other exhaust stuff they have, downpipe cat etc.

No the tip hasn't been hit. the problem is that the spec II tip tapers, from the 3" - 4" but gradually. The silencer however, its 4" all around (atleast thats what it looks like, and thats my theory on why it doesn't fit). If the silencer was tapered a little bit, i bet it would fit like a brown leather glove on OJ

I know, i immediately regret that decision

that car.
Custom turbo (2560 replica)
power fc
550cc injectors
greddy down pipe
megan test pipe
random tubular mani.
yeah, the silencer sucks, and will cause enough back pressure to ruin the gaskets/exhuast wheel, LEAVE IT OUT!
Gilboyto
01-05-2007, 03:50 PM
Thanks for teh specs on that car! Is it yours or something? Because I heard it a while back and only noticed that it had power fc and such fom what it stated on the vid.
Does it sound any different with a stock turbo Id assume?

Man that exhaust sounds manly.
Awesome.
I need it now.
johngriff
01-05-2007, 04:17 PM
its not that much different.
the custom turbo is knicknamed the "tbor charger" after the customer we designed it for. It is essentially a 2560, yet thrust bearing, using the oem sr housings.
Yes that is me, and my old car which is Loooooong gone.

I had one of these a few years ago, silencer was tight and i used a el cheapo long tip screwdriver with a bent tip to get it out...just a few yanks.
I loved it, the whole cat-back weighed like 19lbs.
btw, I had lock a lock washer and a nylon lock nut. never lost it.....If you are really worried, drill another hole and put in a pop rivit.

Listen to this guy...big bad wolf.
You probably haven't had a spec II, but it knows that its too good for the silencer, so it spits it out...duh. Its not their fault...

Wow im a retard. That sucks.
Yeah, i made that video, thats me. LOL.
The song. It is off the Deltron 3030 album, track title "Positive Contact"
Mario C did a remix which is pretty ill.
The Deltron 3030 album, is more experimental than anything, a storytelling album, set to sci fi, with electronica constructions, yet keeping with del's very uniqe lyrical style.
"Deltron" is really, Del the Funky Homosapian, you might also know him from his work in gorrillaz.
I dont suggest using the silencer on the spec II, it tooo restrictive, and i "feel" it can cause damage.

The only "feeling" anyone will do with a silencer in is the person driving behind you when it flies out! :D

ok here is a video.
it is just a normal KA with Buddy Club on it.
Sorry it isn't a better video. Keep in mind too that the exhaust is pointing away from the camera.
I don't know, I like it... oh except for the fact that I can't get one of the hangers to line up AT ALL with where it should be. And also, one of the hangers broke off. Oh and it hits my subframe and hits tranny tunnel right under my where my seat is.
haha
RoyalFlush
01-07-2007, 02:42 PM
oh ok thanks, thats really wierd, the lining up thing, i dont see how it would not line up at all.
Brian
01-07-2007, 02:44 PM
Well I saw it, with my eyes.
I looked at where the bushing was.
I looked at where the hanger was.
Then I saw that they were at least 3 inches apart from where they should be.
All the other hangers worked, but that one. No luck.
Whatever, I make it work though.
RoyalFlush
01-07-2007, 02:47 PM
hahahahah, i wasnt being sarcastic or anything, i was just saying, howd you make it work? was it just fine without it?
Brian
01-07-2007, 02:52 PM
well, I use hose clamps around my bushings so it tightens them all up. Great trick if you ask me. So, with all the other bushings holding it just fine, it actually stays there very well.

ok awesome, i think im gonna go with the buddy club, and if i run into any install problems i might send you a pm if you dont mind
Brian
01-07-2007, 02:56 PM
sure.
I don't care.
I can answer questions.
It is a pretty easy thing to do.
RoyalFlush
01-07-2007, 02:57 PM
yea it should be easy, just with the whole lining up thing, i dont think there will be probs, but ill let you know if mine doesnt line up either.

So on the topic once again, i got the silencer out. Coilover spanner...
It was a lot easier this time. i guess cause i left it in there for a couple days so it settle in a little bit.
**IwannaS15- in regards to your questions, the SpecII is probably the coolest exhaust ever made. Sounds really good on N/A Ka's too. The fitment...well lets just say that i have only one of my hangers in, the one next to the gas tank. I couldn't really get the bolt hanger in there and the two at the tip are way off. But the exhaust is soo light that the one hanger holds it up.
johngriff
01-07-2007, 03:09 PM
brian, it sounds like you have your cat, or test pipe flipped the wrong way. The spec II did this to one of my customers, flip the test pipe, fit right up.
the exuast should fit perfectly, no problems.
hks hipower on na sounds like poop btw.
I didnt like the spec II on na much either, but i am a turbo whore.
Brian
01-07-2007, 03:35 PM
hmm perhaps you could be correct. Never thought about that.
But at this point I really don't care. haha. Not going to have the car much longer.
I'll have a cooler one for new car anyways.
johngriff
01-07-2007, 07:18 PM
Yeah its kinda lame (flipping the pipe).
Any one clear any aggresive aero with this exhaust system yet?
DriftSpecial180
01-07-2007, 11:37 PM
i dunno... i don't really wanna lift my car up to fit an aero kit. i'm looking for some OEM sideskirts and a rear valence, wanna keep it a little more subtle....Hahah, who am i kidding, the Spec II is far from subtle. Try to borrow someones rear bumper and see if it fits :naughty:

To pull it out, tie a piece if wire to a long bolt, drop it through the silencer, then just pull on the wire.
Bolt should hook around length-wise on the hole in the silencer and you can easily just pop it out. That's what I do for my GT spec, works every time.
